Decided to finally crack out my MMC #21 and thought everyone might enjoy seeing the interior of the book! The first appearance of The Patriot. Has art from Alex Schomburg, Jack Kirby, Joe Simon, Bill Everett, Carl Burgos and more with a very early Stan Lee text story! Talk about an impressive lineup!
I have wanted a Marvel Mystery Comics for quite some time now so I am very thrilled to be adding one to my collection! And It’s an Alex Schomburg cover! Has a cool Submariner pinup on the back cover as well. Doesn’t get much better than this.
Marvel Mystery Comics was the very first comic book run ever published by Marvel, formerly known as Timely Comics. Started with issue #1 which hit the news stands in August of 1939, and then the rest is history.
Mine is issue #21 from July 1941. Now the oldest book in my collection. I can’t feel the history radiating off this thing, it’s so awesome, I can’t stop looking at it!
Captain America Comics #39, June 1944. My very first Alex Schomburg cover given to me for free by a very kind ebay seller! Bought a book from them and the order was screwed up on their end with some potential fraud involved.
Long story short another unrelated account tricked him into cancelling my order so someone else could buy it from under me and I was sent this for free as an apology!
The book is kind of a weird Frankenstein copy, there’s a complete coverless Cap #45 attached to the inside of the book. So technically 2 books in one? Anyways not much to complain about for a price tag of $0.00!
This is such a cool book. first Vanisher, second X-Men! I love the Kirby art too, check out that splash page!
This is a well loved copy but it’ll fit right into my collection. For how bad the back cover looks, the colors on the front cover are remarkably bright and present beautifully in mylar.
