Does the $25 plan require a MetroPCS phone?

So when I got on the $25 plan I was told I had to have a Metro PCS phone for it to work.

I just tried to activate an unlocked phone and it told me I would have to switch off the plan. However if I use the IMEI number from a Metro specific phone it seems like it will go through.

Is anyone running this plan on an unlocked phone? Is it something you have to call and haggle with customer service about or is it not possible?

Well since you guys didn't want to share your obvious wealth of knowledge with me on my other post I decided to go ahead and blow the roof off the budget and say the sky's the limit.

Eat your hearts out! I'm going to bring this bad boy to each one of your states one by one and find all of the deepest of treasures. Before that though can anyone lend me some money for 15 AA batteries?? I'll pay you back with all the deep treasures I find.

Alright I'm everybody's favorite customer as someone with zero knowledge and only questions.

I'm looking at the vanquish line and the X-terra pro.

I like the idea of the X-terra being fully waterproof considering I spend a lot of time in creeks.

I'm not so sure how important running simultaneous/multi frequencies is for me. I will occasionally travel to beaches but majority of the time any of my water explorations will be lakes and creeks with occasional sand. The thing I'm really wondering about most is the area I'm in is VERY rich with iron and lead deposits along with all different kinds of minerals ect so should that affect my decision and if so how?
