Finished my ‘33 Ruth Quartet at the National

My first card show in decades, whew. Overwhelming. But got to meet my brother Jerkov, what a blast. Great people on this sub.

Here are the last two I needed to complete the 1933 Ruth quartet.

For those who know the set, there are Canadian and US versions of two of the cards.

If you want every possible version (and I do), there are two more to add, but this is the classic mountain to climb.

Last night - Petco - Play by Play

  • Owners suite
  • Consume hot dog, slider(s), Philly cheese steak(s), Pacifico(s) - skip all salads
  • Catch a foul ball and give it to the kid in front of me
  • His grandpa (Rick) thanks me, then gives me the ball back and says “don’t worry he’s got hundreds of them”
  • I ask "why"
  • Rick says “oh I used to play”
  • I ask who he is - Rick Sutcliffe, ' 84 Cy Young winner for my favorite team the Cubs
  • I watched him for years on WGN after I got home from school
  • Great freaking night
  • Padres, not so great

‘49/9 Leaf SP’s - 3 more tough cards

I’m now 18 cards from completing this set (97 cards). They are all short prints so fun to hunt.

As you know, every type of printing defect shows up in this set, let alone finding them reasonably well centered. I’m pleased with my latest three.

Wanted to share
