Volume and break in question

Volume and break in question

I'm a middle aged woman who's been playing hockey for decades and recently got new FT8 pros in junior size since I have small feet. When I got fitted with the skates baked, volume wasn't an issue, and the laces were tied closer together. I've skated in these 3 times and it doesnt hurt. I noticed yesterday when trying on at home that there's a slight volume issue and pressure where the ankle is. It also feels like the skate spread out vs when these were first baked. I noticed the tongue on these skates is hard and very padded vs other skate models. Will I gain a little bit of volume in the ankle bend area as the skate breaks in?

The skate fit perfectly a week ago so perhaps this is bloatedness due to hormones/the monthly coming (sorry if this is TMI).

Does period coming affect swelling of feet? My new skates suddenly seem tighter!

I bought new skates about a week ago. I prefer a performance fit. The manager at Pure Hockey did a wonderful job fitting me. Skates were baked and fit wonderfully for length, width, and volume, with the skates wrapping perfectly around my foot. Skated in these last weekend and it was fine. Then I noticed within the last couple days when I was trying these on at home to further break the skates in, the volume on the top of my feet seems bigger, especially near my ankles. My period is due so not sure if my feet swell? Shouldn't the foams be packing out as I wear these so that the skates get looser? Anyone else experience this with their gear?

Update to injected eyelets on Flylites

I played last night, this time keeping the looser than normal. In my original post I mentioned I know to pull laces outwards, no upwards, to avoid breaking the eyelets. I removed my laces immediately after the game and discovered the issue had gotten worse on both skates shown in the pictures.

I should also mention this but I'm an adult with smaller feet and am skating on junior Flylites. It may be my weight on a junior skate is too much strain on the boot and injected laces. Such a shame since I really liked these, and will be returning to Pure Hockey within the 30 day return policy.

Injected eyelets- is this normal?

New Flylites purchased a few weeks ago and skated in less than 10 times. I have been tying these by pulling outward on the laces vs upward. Notice this today on the outside of the left skate, specifically where I tie it tighter to lock down my ankle. The inner portion of the left skate has the eylets still rectangular, and the right skate eyelets are fully rectangular. Does anyone have injected eyelets that had strain like this on some of the eyelets?

Pickup hockey with rookies taking long shifts

I play in a weekly private pickup that is a mixed level ranging from people who've played their whole lives to people starting out, 20 skaters max. It's a 1:1 in for out. Lately the mix has been about 75% newbies.

The newbies tend to stay out way too long (3 to 5+ minute shifts) because they're not skating fast enough to be tired, plus it seems they have the mentality of staying out there until they touch the puck. The person running the pickup makes announcements to keep the shifts short. Not sure if it's a lack of self awareness how long they're out there, but the long shifts continue. Some of these people have been told nicely multiple times on the bench. Then people get frustrated on the bench from sitting too long, and yell at individual players to come off. Advice?

Flex recommendation for woman

I'm a woman who started playing in the late 90s using 80 or 100 flex sticks when Easton aluminum was still a thing, and composites were just starting to come out (remember Innovativ sticks?). I'm a 5'2" forward and have been playing with 65 flex intermediate sticks since. I have to cut sticks down several inches. Tried a Bauer junior stick with a 50 Flex that I had to cut down only a little bit, and I hated the " noodly" feeling when stickhandling. To best explain it, it felt like my hands were faster than the stick.

2 questions: 1) What flex should I look at if I don't want the noodly feeling, but want more power from a shot? 2) If I'm cutting an intermediate 65 down, what is the flex I'm playing with? My sticks get cut down at least 4 inches. As I've gotten older I'm not as strong.

My big toe (Morton's toe) is much shorter than the rest of my toes. This has always been an issue in footwear for sports. I used Powerfoot toe inserts on my previous skates to stabilize that toe from moving forward. I just bought Flylites and fitted it for a performance fit, but because of the big toe it's not quite a perfect ankle lock, and the toe box is too small for Powerfoot inserts.

Are there any footbed inserts that will grip to keep my feet in place so it doesn't move around as much?

I'm a childfree adult and constantly see these kids being yelled at by parents. At a recent stick & puck the kid seemed scared of his dad. His dad wasn't even out there with him and was yelling from a side door. Feel bad for the kids with parents like this.

EDIT: A coworker whose son plays AA said parents don't treat the other parents well either. Lots of cliques, cattiness, and shit talking about kids other than their own.
