Supernatural Modern Day Setting inspired by World of Darkness

Hello friends, it has been a minute but I wanted to share a series of posts I put up recently which is basically a setting for SWADE i made that was inspired by World of Darkness. It isn't meant to be a 1 to 1 emulation and has some of my own stuff and other inspirations tied into it. The post below is an index post that leads to all the entries. Hope people enjoy.

[Discord][pbp][SWADE][Sandbox] Shadows over Pitchvale, an Urban Fantasy game

Looking to start a discord based play by post game. It will be a sandbox game in a steampunk city where one replaces the steampunk with alchemical processes that are fueling the needed industrial revolution. System is Savage Worlds Adventure Edition (SWADE) Here is the pitch:

*You are traveling with a caravan bound to Pitchvale, the largest city in the Adumbran Empire. The empire is no longer what it once was, one time it stretched over much of the world and had many nations under its banner but over time the strain of empire led to rebellions and fracturing. Pitchvale maintains itself as a place of power due to the alchemist guild’s hold there and their burgeoning alchemical industrial revolution. This has led many to head to Pitchvale in search of jobs and opportunity. Many also still come to Pitchvale because it houses the Rookermore Academy, one of the last schools of magical knowledge left in the empire.*

*The players will arrive at the same time, having met and befriended each other on the journey to the city. You will establish your goals in session 0 and work towards them as you contend with the various forces of the city pushing and pulling against each other. Maybe as you climb towards your goals, you will become influential people in Pitchvale helping guide it to greatness, and curbing the excess and destructive impulses of the Alchemist Guild’s drive to further its industrial progress.*

More details if people are interested. I generally try to post every day, but there may be days when I don't and days when I can post a lot. I am in the US in Central time, so that is when I will be pushing things forward.

If you are interested, send me a message, I'll share more setting details so you can decide if this is a game you want to play.

Players are Ideally

-Familiar with SWADE having actually read the rulebooks involved

-Able to commit to daily posting

-Looking to be collaborative with character backstory and how it relates to the game

-Able to communicate like an adult if things come up

We will work through safety tools and alignment on tone of the story in Session 0.

Message me with some info on your background with SWADE, pbp games, and ttrpgs in general and we can move from there.

Fantasy City design help

Curious of anyone has any tools or resources they use for designing cities.

Some context, I want to design an Urban Fantasy setting for a game I want to run that is based in one city and want to really dig into the local problems and politics and I want to figure out as much about the city while still making sure I am creating stuff that is game able for my players.

I have cities/worlds without numbers, but am looking for more stuff on medieval/Renaissance cities that can help me flesh out details.

Why do you use a pre-made adventure?

So this is an honest question because for me I have always loved the adventure creation part. I have so many that I am starting to put them out so other people can use them and apparently there is a big market as I see hundreds of them on DTRPG.

I guess my question is what drives people to want to use something pre made? Is it mostly not enjoying the creation part? Being intimidated by it? Other reasons I don't yet understand cause I view the world only in my limited lens?

Share some perspective to help me understand.

Edit: Appreciate all the input. Overall themes are 1) not enough time/desire for homebrew 2) other people's creativity is cool and want to engage with it 3) to learn new systems.

Secondary edit: it wasn't my original point to do this but my post got flagged for self promotion but I had been here long enough that I didn't break the rules so I will go and full on post my link.

The place where I post my content, including some pre-made adventures is here:
