READ THIS BEFORE ASKNG "IS THS A SCAM?"!!!

When reading ACX messages, ask yourself these questions:

  1. Is the person asking you to move communications off platform before they've stated the terms of their offer? (i.e. vaguely offering you the possibility of opportunities without telling you the actual title of a book listed on ACX or name of an author with any titles listed on ACX)
  2. Is the person asking you to complete an action completely unrelated to audiobooks? (i.e. asking you to help them retrieve their inheritance, late husband's estate, etc.)
  3. Is the person asking you to spend a portion of a check which your bank has not yet deposited the funds for into your bank account? (i.e. asking you to buy a product from an online shop, put money into an online account, pay for third-party services, etc.)
  4. Is the person asking you to communicate via Telegram?

If you have said "yes" to any of these, it's HIGHLY likely a scam. If you have said "yes" to 2 or more, it is absolutely 100% a scam. If you have said "yes" to 3 or more and are still wondering, you need to just cancel your account and pack it in.

THIS is how you do a proper fan dub

So, a few voice artists have redubbed the Marvel Rivals trailer and I just wanted to point one out that I think absolutely nailed it.

I know we all see those "How's my voice?" type posts floating around here and in the other voice subs. They're usually way over-processed, many you can't even make out what they're saying at all. This fan dub by Marc Glave is, I feel, a perfect blend of both acting and engineering. Marc absolutely nailed the performance. And it's all engineered very tastefully so that the acting comes across clear as a bell, but also has that light processing to make it blend in with the necessary effects of the character and setting.

Are there any technologies folks are using right now to protect themselves from AI?

So, the question is in the title. I know there are quite a lot of "research projects" popping up, like AntiFake, which aim to gum up AI training on your voice recordings (similar to what Glaze and Nightshade do for images). However, AntiFake itself is like 3 years old now, without any progress to speak of and only supports a sample rate of 16 kHz. Then there was some hype around Poison Pill by Ben Bowler, which was for music more broadly and not just voices, but it launched in October of last year and just shut down this past April since it wasn't profitable.

I know there are endless watermarking technologies out there, which actually predate AI, but I'm more curious about technologies specifically developed to disrupt AI training. And if nobody knows of any practical ones at this point, maybe this could be an idea for those multitude of devs trying to hawk their script prep tools. If you're a dev, I would gladly welcome you to shill your anti-AI training product if you have one.

Any good Facebook groups with a similar crowd of folks as here?

As you all know, I'm a regular here and I love Reddit. However, I'm working with an elderly first-time author at the moment and she really needs more support than I'm able to give her at this point, regarding the ins and outs of KDP, ACX, and the rest of the Amazon ecosystem specifically from the perspective of an author. The last time I published anything through the Amazon ecosystem was through CreateSpace, which doesn't exist anymore. So, I'm just very much out of the loop when it comes to specific details authors may be encountering in the modern landscape, and I'd really like her to get connected with folks who'd be able to discuss such things more knowledgeably than I.

Again, she's older, and I've honestly only ever communicated with her via email, which it seems like is her preferred form of communication. But I believe she also has Facebook, and I'm just looking for groups she can potentially join to get a similar experience as this fine community, but within the Facebook ecosystem, if that's possible.
