Everybody's talking about the Noelle crashout in Chapter 6 but could you imagine if something like this happened instead

Like seriously this scene fits way too well

Yes, Suselle is indeed f*cked (for the foreseeable future at least)

Before anyone contests this, Suselle shippers or otherwise, I want to preface this post by saying that I am a Kruselle shipper. I don't like this any more than you do; I want this to work out. But there is a difference between enjoying a ship and denying the reality in front of your face so that you can pretend that it'll remain canon. There is tons of foreshadowing that shows that it most likely won't, and you can't just ignore that.

That being said, DO NOT HARASS ANYONE OVER THIS, PLEASE. I am simply analyzing what the story has set up so far and discussing it's implications. I am not "praying on Suselle's downfall", nor am I trying to attack anyone by saying that a certain ship is "better".

Okay? Okay. Let's get into it, then.

Part 1: They Aren't Ready

Neither of these people are prepared for a committed relationship, and it shows. Susie spends a sizable portion of Chapter 5 just trying to figure out what love even is, since she doesn't seem to have a proper understanding of it at all. As for Noelle, her affection for Susie reads at best to me as a simple teenage crush (possibly because Susie reminds her of Dess) and at worst like an unhealthy obsession. She seems to be projecting onto Susie more than actually trying to understand and appreciate her for who she is, and Susie is going along with because her previous social isolation has caused her to crave affection.

Susie and Noelle barely even knew each other before the events of the story, and they really haven't interacted that much at all. The vast majority of Noelle's knowledge of Susie is of her as the "scary bully" mask she was wearing pre-Chapter 1. And Susie is still seeing Noelle's mask of the "girl next door" who's polite and quiet and gets good grades.

Neither of them really understand each other, and while they've certainly opened up to each other somewhat, they're both still hiding who they really are. This is not how a functional relationship operates.

This is not me hating on Suselle. Perhaps you could construe this as me hating on it's portrayal in canon, but that's not really my intention either. Most of this is just me stating facts. However, I'll extend an olive branch here and say that this does not prove anything on it's own. All of this is definitely a pretty big obstacle to the relationship, but I'd be an idiot to say that it's an insurmountable one. Given time, and a willingness to truly understand and appreciate each other, I don't doubt that a relationship like this could work out.

But while it's not an insurmountable obstacle, it does show that the relationship is on very shaky ground. It wouldn't take much to break it apart, and as we know...

Part 2: The Crashout of Legendary Legends

Processing gif fpxfgh2zcpjh1...

Noelle is not going to be happy when Susie reveals the truth about Dark Worlds to her. Like at all.

There's obviously the important fact that her dad is literally dying. There is also the important fact that Susie is not aware of this. Put those two facts together, even without any other context, and there is no reality in which Susie's attempt to recruit Noelle doesn't end absolutely horribly.

But to add additional context anyways:

  1. Susie is bad with feelings. There are many examples of this. She is not at all equipped to deal with the absolute hurricane of emotions Noelle is likely grappling with right now.
  2. Susie didn't just not tell Noelle. She actively lied to her and concealed the truth, telling her that it was all just a dream. That's significantly worse than just being close-lipped about it.
  3. Susie threw Noelle's phone away when her mom was trying to call her about Rudy. Of course, she didn't know about the situation, but even still, that's probably going to be addressed at some point.
  4. Noelle has healing magic in the Dark World, magic which she might have wanted to use on her dad. Obviously it wouldn't work, since it's a Light World condition, but she wouldn't know that, and so would probably be even more upset at Susie for concealing this.

And that's not even addressing the aborted weird route. And there's probably also things that I missed.

And as mentioned before, their relationship is already on quite shaky ground as is. Honestly just Rudy dying on it's own would probably be enough to trigger a breakup. Add all this stuff on top of it and there is no way in hell that Suselle survives Chapter 6. Maybe they'll get back together in Chapter 7, or much later in some epilogue or something, when they've resolved their issues and are emotionally mature enough to give it another shot, and form a big happy polycule with Kris and maybe Ralsei too. One can only dream.

Part 3: Krusie

I'm just gonna add this part because I've heard people say that if Suselle is doomed, then so is Krusie, because Kris is also concealing their affiliation with the Knight. While this is a fair point, and I don't doubt that the crashout is gonna be NASTY once Susie finds out about this, I'm gonna take this time to explain why this really isn't the catastrophe a lot of people think.

I feel like a lot of this stems from egregious abuse of the infamous "people who don't tell you the whole deal" line, which is obviously informative of Susie's character, but actions speak louder than words, and while Susie's actions do confirm that she doesn't appreciate it when people keep things from her, they also show that she's actually incredibly forgiving and understanding once she knows the full story. We see this with both Tenna and Ralsei; she's aggressive at first, but backs off almost immediately once she understands their motivations and reasoning, and promptly transitions into comforting and helping them instead. I think a similar story's going to happen with Kris, although likely much more drawn out over the course of the chapter, since I'm not gonna deny that a betrayal of this magnitude is a pretty big deal.

Will it shake up the friendship? Most certainly. Might it even still potentially end it? Maybe. But it is not the guaranteed relationship-ender that people seem to think.

Contrast this with Susie concealing the truth to Noelle. This doesn't seem as bad by comparison, but Noelle is a very different character than Susie, and she's dealing with a lot of additional baggage that Susie isn't. And their relationship isn't nearly as close and secure as Susie's is with Kris (fountain makers gc shenanigans notwithstanding). She'll probably forgive Susie eventually, but likely not before the events of Chapter 6 put far too much strain on the relationship for romance between them to continue in any meaningful capacity.

There is also the SOUL that needs to be addressed though. But first, a misconception needs to be cleared up. No, we did not make Susie and Kris become friends. They become friends no matter the options we choose, and Kris does communicate with Susie outside of our dialogue choices. Susie is friends with Kris; that friendship is real; she's not actually friends with the SOUL instead.

Will she see it that way though? That's the real question. I've seen multiple different people speculate that Kris may try to make Susie think that she was only ever friends with the SOUL so that they can go do their evil ass roaring shenanigans, and will try to pretend that they never really cared. I will admit that that could honestly go either way. Susie could actually believe Kris, permanently severing the friendship, or she could immediately call cap until Kris can't maintain the act anymore and breaks down. But further speculation down that road would be going way off topic.

Conclusion

Yeesh holy jeebus this is long

I'd like to reiterate that I DO NOT HATE SUSELLE. I mainly ship Krusie but I really prefer Kruselle as a polycule. I want this to work too, but I just don't see how it can. Them getting back together is an option, sure, but I don't see how Toby could make that happen convincingly less than a day after the inevitable breakup. Krusie endgame just seems far more likely at this point (which doubly sucks for me since I also ship Kriselle but it is what it is).

Just prepare your asses. That's what I'm trying to do for you here. I don't want Suselle enjoyers going into Chapter 6 still on the high of holding the canon ball only to get completely blindsided by the most gut-wrenching breakup scene imaginable.

Um ur dur I dunno I'm bad at conclusions bye
