New DM for Cosmere

Background: I am a fairly seasoned DM for D&D and have run a few scenarios of Call of Cthulu, but have never run a Stormlight campaign. I have read the original Mistborn trilogy and am almost finished with Rythm of War, so I am fairly familiar with the Cosmere.

I am about to run my first campaign of the Cosmere RPG with 5 PCs running a homebrew type campaign (wanted to steer clear of Stonewalkers due to it being wrapped up in the timeline of the book). I am not worried about the mechanics too much as it runs very similar to D&D mechanics minus the plot dice. I am a little confused about how the expertises and talents work...could someone explain it to me?

Also how do you all go about introducing radiants? Little confused about the trait for that, might have missed it in the handbook.

Thanks y'all

Injury advice

I’m trying to get back into running after gaining quite a bit of weight, and I’m running into a frustrating problem. I used to run 8–10 miles every single day, but after taking time off and putting on weight, I’m clearly not used to running with the extra pounds.

Within about 30–60 seconds of starting a run, I get extremely intense pain in the arches of my feet. That’s where the problem started, and it’s still by far the worst symptom. The pain is severe enough that I have to stop running, and as I’ve kept trying to run through it, I’ve also started developing tightness and pain in my calves and shins. If I stop and rest for a few minutes, everything settles down, but it comes right back as soon as I start running again.

I’m working on losing weight and improving my fitness, but right now I can barely run in short bursts before the pain starts.

Has anyone dealt with something similar? What forms of cardio or exercises would you recommend that can help me maintain or improve my running fitness without actually running while I recover (cycling, incline walking, rowing, stair climber, elliptical, etc.)?

Also, assuming this is an overuse or muscle issue, how long would you hold off on running before trying again? Unfortunately, getting in to see my primary care doctor could take months, so I’m trying to figure out what a reasonable recovery timeline looks like and what I can safely do in the meantime.
