Advice on follow up psychiatrist appointment
Hey team,
I have gone through the process with a qualified nurse practitioner (who my GP referred me to go to). We have had 2 appointments, and she had given me the diagnosis of ADHD.
She has then referred me to the psychiatrist that she works with and I will have a telehealth appointment to confirm the diagnosis and prescribe me medication based on her report.
Only thing is, the closest appointment is over 10 weeks away. With my partner expecting a child in November, I was hoping to have all my medications nearly sorted out, but won't look likely following that time line.
I have contacted my nurse practitioner, and she said that she is happy for me to go to another psychiatrist if I can find one that can fit me in.
What do you think I should do? Should I just wait it out and be patient, or find another psych?
The estimated cost for the psychiatrist appointment is around $230.
Just a bit lost as to what to do.
