a wacky Chaosmon Valdur Arm line
I really like how Nohemon bridges Wormmon to Monzaemon. I've used this more than once, and I'll probably use it again.
And Veemon to Allomon to Garudamon? Not traditional, but it's a new favorite of mine now.

At some point it occurred to me that MonarchLizamon is an excellent evo for Tuskmon - it might as well be MetalTuskmon! And then I realized Gaiomon is a pretty good evo for MonarchLizamon. Especially if you take the elements M-L adds to Tuskmon and then amplify those elements.
So I would say only Gizamon to Tuskmon needs any justification, and given Gizamon to Tuskmon is a V-Pet line, that's plenty justification. (I first saw this line in the fan game Digimon: Your Digital Dream, and ever since it's been my default Tuskmon pre-evo.)
Kabukimon to Cherrymon makes so much sense, and I like how this line comes together.
Fairy tales, Little Red Riding Hood, her grandma, and the wolf.
ChaosMetalSeadramon might be a weird climax, but I like it. I also hold this up as evidence we need a Mega-level crustacean, Opabiniamon.
Like the title says - I'm curious what people have seen (or considered implementing themselves) that struck them as just totally extra? For things I've seen in published games, Digimon Time Stranger stood out for giving every Digimon voice acting for its signature attack, and distinct voice acting for each language.
But there's also something I'm planning for my own game that I know is extra. What is it? Conlang'ed attacks. Like, settings will absolutely allow you to disable it if you want, but when you command your monster to use Spit Fire? The menu may read Rasaim Teshi (Spit Fire). And I plan on voice acting so the protagonist will actually call out Ha! Rasaim Teshi! On top of that, I also invested in a custom script, so it's possible to write rasaim teshi in their writing system.
Do I think this is a *wise* use of my resources? No. But it's important to me. So I'm all-in on this idea, and I just hope some people enjoy this off-the-beaten-path choice.
Exactly what the title says. Pokethulhu is the only one I know, and it's a very un-serious and low-complexity TTRPG. (Yes, two TT's. Tabletop, not tactical).
Full disclosure:
My motivation is because I plan on having eldritch horror elements in my own game, but it's like the second or third most prominent aspect, and I'm so gosh-darn proud of the idea I'm brainstorming that I kind of want to see it used as the #1 most prominent feature rather than second fiddle. I probably can't leave it at that, so I'll just note that while Pokemon does rock-paper-scissors type advantage as the main aspect of elemental aspects, while Cassette Beasts does elemental alchemy as a very different way for types to interact, I'm interest in a risk/reward thing and "flying too close to the sun." That my monsters aren't themselves eldritch horrors, but their reality-warping powers can erode the very fabric of reality, catch the attention of something primal, and let it bleed through. That you may want to avoid using super-effective ice moves because they've already been spammed so much, and the sun is darkening and frost is creeping over everything, and a desperate hunger has begun eating away at you. You have caught the interest of Ithaqua. Keep pushing, and you may summon an avatar. There may already be wendigos afoot....
So yeah, that's the stuff I hope to achieve in my game, and I just want to compare notes with anyone else working in this area. I just know Pokethulhu and the Nephilim of CthulhuTech.
Artwork by Maerodir. I'm definitely going for a distinct aesthetic. Post-apocalyptic, where the monsters are things you can craft or grow using some sort of flesh bud and a skeleton of scrap. My elevator pitch is Mad Max does Pokemon. (Not Pokemon does Mad Max).
Skater into Zamboni machine. As far as I'm concerned, Rinkmon and Mojyamon are the best two precursors to Frozomon.
Got a few twists in here, but let me go through my logic:
I started this as a joke, but I actually think it works.
I had a lot of fun with my previous Tokomon Brothers post, so I decided to do it again - imagining two Digimon siblings that take different but complimentary paths. In this case, a pair of Biyomon that end up as either Valdurmon or Darkdramon, and each befriends a very different BanchoLeomon to end up as the Chaosmon Brothers.
Can't decide if I prefer Hyogamon into Panjyamon or IceDevimon into Panjyamon. But the Ogremon/Leomon and Devimon/Leomon connections are both amusing, and both lines are valid from Gomamon in Time Stranger.
I present LichGreymon by Weirdomon. Intended as a devoted mega for SkullGreymon. And given the necromancer theme, I just realized Nise Agumon Hakase is a better rookie than regular Agumon or his black counterpart.
On LichGreymon:
If it were in Time Stranger or the like, I imagine it uses Magic Attacks and that Solemn Tornado offers a defensive boost. (Maybe something like a 30% boost to defense and enters a stance where it can counter attack with a low-damage Magic attack.)
I'm looking for an alternative to Blossomon given that was seen in the original Survive. But this is a very different line. I like flowers into QueenBeemon. I'd considered Cherrymon (saw a variant with red leaves), but it's a bit too masculine-presenting for QueenBeemon.
I'm also open to alternatives to Brachiomon. It was originally gonna be Triceramon, but yet again... Survive did it already.
With Jogress. Devidramon, Manticoremon, and Dalphomon are all some of my top Digimon of their levels, so I'm thrilled they work as a line like this.
I like this one. Nega-Patamon into Nega-MarineAngemon. Through a Patamon Armor.
I enjoyed Survive, and started asking myself what might be fun lines for a hypothetical Survive 2 that felt like a '02 homage in the kind of way that Survive felt like an O.G. Adventure homage. So I started building up this crazy idea where our Digimon Emperor analog is (1) actually someone who got lost in this world years ago, fought hard for survival, and along the way turned into a kind of a warlord, but (2) I flip the script and give the Veemon side to our villain-turned-unlikely-ally and Wormmon to our lead.
Honestly, I think Nohemon into Monzaemon really works, and Monzaeomon into BanchoLeomon has been done before. Wormmon into Nohemon is canon. So I really like how I went from Wormmon to BanchoLeomon in a coherent fashion.
Been mulling over this for a few months ever since I noticed that '02 introduced 4 new Digidestined and their partner Digimon. Which gave me this cracked idea of "What if Veemon, Hawkmon, Armadillomon, and Worrmmon were a redemption arc for the Dark Masters?" The hardest parts were Wormmon to Piedmon and Hawmon to Puppetmon, so this is why I had to swap out the champions. Ankylomon's too perfect though.
Still feels bad to mix things up between original champions and new champions, but I've been tinkering for months, and this is the best I have. (Well, Anomalocarimon was a candidate too, and I keep going back and forth. I do like that as an Ankylomon champion, and it managed to homage both the Digmon and Submarimon sides. But Brachiomon to MetalSeadramon is great.
