Wheel upgrade on a budget

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction for a decent budget wheel upgrade. Even though I'm well under the weight limit, I just keep breaking spokes, so I definitely need something a little beefier. I'm fine to stick with aluminum rims, but what's everyone's recommendation for something a bit stronger that isn't so hard on the wallet?

2024 Trek Checkpoint ALR vs 2025 Checkpoint SL7 framesets

Sorry if this is a basic question but I'm only mildly familiar with bike maintenance. So I have a 2024 Trek Checkpoint ALR with a cracked frame. Unfortunately I bought it used, so no warranty. I found a 2025 Checkpoint SL7 frameset for sale, and I'd like to keep as many of the components as possible to swap over. Will pretty much everything from one frame fit onto the other, or are the frames slightly different?

Thanks in advance!

Can I get in trouble for giving an off duty police officer a fake name?

I've got a bit of a weird one. I was out bikepacking way up a logging road, somewhat close to a rarely used hiking trail. Some guy out for a hike on his own walked into my camp claiming to be an off duty conservation officer. He starts questioning me about a pile of garbage (it looked like a pile of mostly blankets) that had been left there by someone else. I was on a bike, so it should have been pretty damn obvious I wasn't the one who dumped them there, but he didn't seem to buy it. He asked for my ID, which I just told him I didn't have, then demanded my name. When I said I'd rather not say, he threatened to come back the next day while on duty and arrest me for dumping garbage. I gave him a fake name, which he proceeded to write down in his phone before informing me about the fines for dumping, then he left.

I was gone early the next morning, so I don't know if he came back or not. I know the chances of getting in trouble for this specific incident are pretty low, but is that illegal to do? I don't even know if this guy is actually a CO. He didn't show me ID or a badge, wasn't in any uniform, and I never saw his vehicle.

I was just reminded about this reply I received a couple years ago. I put an ad on looking for a pair of Jack stands, and this was one of the responses I got:

"I have this one that I don’t use for $10.00. There is a piece missing that acts like a lock but I used the clamp that works just as well."

Thanks, but I'll pass
