I’ve actually never learned a BEW solo. I started this weekend convinced i would have it easy and post something by EoD. But wow, did this passage challenge me in many ways. Capturing the essence of the groove, trying not to stay locked into pentatonic and trying to honor the song humbled me to the point of rage yesterday. Lol.

This was a tough one for me. But i think i got something passable today.

Sigh....the brutal south western US summers are hitting my area hard this week.

I've been wanting a Wah pedal on my board for a minute, but they're always so expensive and I'm a cheap bastard. I ended up finding a broken Snarling Dogs Blue Bawls Wah in my area locally for dirt cheap. Fortunately it was a free and easy repair. I've also been listening to lots of Ween lately. So this solo tone and approach is kinda Deaner inspired.

CHAIN:

One of my absolute favorite tender Jerry tunes. Reckoning was the first live album of the Dead I fell in love with as a teenager many moons ago. I remember the first time I drove through the Blue Ridge Mountains on a road trip and feeling like that song captures the soul of the landscape and its timelessness perfectly.

The intro to this one was taken from Almost Jerry Acoustic album. Working hard on flat picking and working licks around those cowboy chords.

I moved to an apartment for the summer for work. So no cranking up big ass amps for a few months :(

That limitation inspired me to work on some acoustic tunes. I know Jerry flat picks this one so I’m tipping my to Mississippi John Hurt. The combination of Travis picking and singing has taken me weeks to get where it’s at. So close!

Only Ween could pen such a beautiful song about being dope sick with dope shits. This was one of my favorite tunes in rehab many moons ago. Still is too.

Cant stop digging through the layers of this tune. Working on trying to decouple my voice brain from my guitar brain. Singing and playing juxtaposed rhythms and melodies together. Shit aint easy. But thats what love will make you do ;)

Ive been down deep in a Jerry Mixo Blues shred hole. Trying to get those tasteful out of bounds licks under my fingers. The timing to that little opening lick is way harder than it seems. Was for me anyhow.

Doesnt look too crazy. I see the added middle pup and switches and a 5th knob has been added. The switch closest to the horn looks different than the other 2?
