On meds - TRAB still increasing?

I’ve been on carbimazole for 6 weeks (5 weeks when my bloods were taken last week)

My tsh, t3 and t4 have improved slightly (yay!) but my tRAB is still increasing, is this normal?

My consultant didn’t seem concerned ( I was Diagnosed with graves Friday just gone) and has just said to continue with meds as normal and I will have another blood test in 6 - 8 weeks.

Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience?

Bloods

Pre meds
T3 8.7
T4 43.40
TSH 0.005
tRAB 2.6

Bloods 15/05 (5 weeks on meds)
T3 4.1
T4 15.7
TSH 0.008
tRAB 4.53

What should I be looking out for?

First of all, thanks to all you lovely people who commented on my last post.

I had my NHS endo appt today and he has confirmed what you have all said - I have graves.

We went through all my bloods, Trab, tpo etc, although he did mention he wasn’t too concerned about the Trab as he mentioned they have a lot of patients that have graves that actually have a constant negative Trab (I did not know this was a thing! Although mine was positive)

He advised it can not be “cured” as is autoimmune, and the discussion did come up briefly of what will happen in the future, but he said that’s a discussion for another day.

I’m on carbimazole 30mg and he has prescribed propranolol to try and get the palpitations and heart rate down, and hopefully get some of the symptoms under control

I’m new to this, I just want to know what I should be looking out for, and if there’s anything I should or shouldn’t be doing? I’ve had to stop running currently due to my heart rate which sucks.

Thanks people!

Is it likely I have this?

Looking for some experience / advice, I want to say first and foremost I am under the consultant and am due to see him Friday, I just want to arm myself with questions or some knowledge.

I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism through a private consultant due to severe symptoms and being very unwell and unable to wait for nhs appt (if you know, you know). My private consultant was more concerned about treating the hyperthyroidism, I have been referred for on going care to my NHS consultant and am due to see him Friday (almost a year after being referred!)

Levels:
TSH 0.005 mIU/L
Free T4 43.40
Free T3 8.7

The above I understand are consistent for hyperthyroidism, but the below is where I’m unsure, Graves’ disease has been mentioned previously, my grandmother had it.

These below results would this be consistent with this? What other tests would I be looking at for a diagnosis?

Thyroid peroxidase antibody 45 / positive
TSH receptor antibody 2.6 U/L

Cortisol was in the “grey area” I was told 225

I have been seriously unwell the last couple months, high heart rate, palpitations, severe heat intolerance, sickness, diarrhoea, severe mood swings, pain in lower legs, vision blacking out, pressure behind eyes, noticed a change in my one eye lid?

Long story short was having HORRIBLE symptoms before I was diagnosed, severe palpitations multiple times a day and through the night, hair loss, severe heat intolerance, mood swings (to the point I genuinely though I was bipolar) terrible skin, insomnia

Waited 8 months for an endo appointment from my GP as my bloods were borderline last year when I was initially referred (still haven’t had the appointment!) so I was fortunate enough to go private as my symptoms were getting worse.

Well, it was bad enough for the consultant to call me in early for my results ( getting a phone call at night from the hospital isn’t a great feeling haha)

My bloods are

T3 8.7

T4 43.40

Tsh 0.005

I’ve been started on carbimazole 30mg, but my symptoms are still terrible, and I’m not sure if it’s from the thyroid itself or the medication but nausea and vomiting has been terrible along with dizziness.

I spoke to my consultant and he said it could be a mix of both, but he doesn’t necessarily want to change my medication yet due to it may cause more problems with my levels?

Is this my permanent state now? What are peoples experiences? Physically and mentally it’s ruining me, I’ve lost over 7lb in a week and a half.

Thanks!
