Remote jobs?

Title. I have a degree in chemical engineering and at the present moment am trying to escape a pretty bad employment situation. The problem is that I live in a rural area, and because of personal obligations I can't relocate for the time being.

Advice?

Any catholic women doctors here?

Hi all,

I'm curious if there are any MDs in this sub. I'm an almost-24 year old engineer considering going back to school to be a pediatrician. The best case scenario is that I would start school at age 27.

Obviously I am concerned about delaying children that long. I am one of 9, and my mom had my youngest sibling at 45. I've done some research, and I've found that while it's tough, it's not impossible to have a baby during the last year of med school and during residency.

Any catholic women here who are MDs (or otherwise in healthcare) that can chime in or offer any advice?

Practicing medicine in New Mexico?

I am very early career New Mexico resident and considering going back to school to be a doctor. However, the general outflux of physicians from the state (especially pediatricians and OB/GYNs) makes me nervous to throw my eggs in this kind of basket.

Any healthcare workers here that can comment? What is UNM med school like? Is practicing specialties like peds and obstetrics in NM really as awful as the stats lead me to believe? i'm espeically interested in peds. Just give me the good, the bad and the ugly. Thanks!

Accidentally threw away my opioids

I have surgery in about a week. Partial fibular sesamoidectomy + 1st metatarsal osteotomy. I got my prescription from the pharmacy a couple days ago, but in the midst of apartment cleaning accidentally three it and the grocery bag it was in away.

I’m not about to ask my physician for more pain meds. In terms of post op pain, how fucked am I? I was actually really looking forward to starting the road to healing, but now I am terrified.

My office has been pretty negative lately, especially with the hiring freeze, so it's been hard to avoid feeling down about working at the lab. I recognize I'm in a very small bubble that isn't representative of the entire lab, though. SO, especially employees that have been here less than 5 years, share some of your positive experiences working at LANL!

EDIT: while I recognize the benefits are a MASSIVE perk and privilege, what about the positives concerning the work itself?
