Italian E, D, T, P

I have realized I am deaf to the difference between an open and closed e. So when I say e and è, they sound the same. I worked with a tutor and only improved very inconsistently.

Is there an è sound equivalent in America English?

Also- is there a trick to d, t, and p tongue s lip placement to sound less foreign?

Il capo vs la capa

Im wondering if this would have still been wrong had the voice to text not misspelled capa to cappa. Is la capa not correct for a female boss? Are all bosses il capo?

Nevermind. I got to it again and put “La capa” and it was accepted. It was just the typo was rejected.

Perché?

I said qualche volta because that’s how I learned it from Pimsleur. Why is it wrong? Also- I feel like there was an update and I’m getting TONS of new words without them being flagged as new and with no introduction to the word.

Family/Child Interview Room - Decor Ideas

My clinic is turning one of our offices into a family room where we can interview children who may have experienced or witnessed domestic violence.

I’m looking for either ideas or links that will helps us maximize the potential of this small space. There will be no desk or anything like that. We already have a small table and chairs with plans for some toys and coloring materials. But looking on Amazon, I’m finding SO many cute things and I don’t want it to become cluttered and overcrowded with crap.

Thanks!

State and National Licensure: Requesting Old Application Documentation

My wife is also a therapist. She works under a contract on a military base that currently does not require her to be licensed in the state we live, so her old initial license in Idaho allows her to work under this contract due to being on federal land. Problem is that they are encouraging everyone to get our local state license because that exemption may be ending as of January 1st 2027.

The state we live in does not allow licensure by reciprocity, so you have to do the entire licensure application from scratch, and that includes the practicum and post-grad supervisor signing off on your hours witnessed by a notary public.

Problem: her supervisor has passed away. She has the NBCC CCMHC credential since 2013 and that application required verification of 3k post grad hours signed off by her supervisor. She emailed them to ask if they have her application records and if they will send them to her, but in the meantime panic is setting in that she might lose her job if she cannot get this state license.

I just want to know- has anyone successfully requested old application materials from a state or national board? We have moved no less than 10 times since those days and cannot find copies of the original mailed application materials (they were not emailed or digitally submitted).

LBBB

I’m a 49 year old female. Normal weight, no medications, healthy. My blood pressure regularly runs on the low side. Never high.

A few weeks ago, I noticed I was feeling dizzy, but I figured I was dehydrated. Then one day at work (I work in a hospital), I was walking back to my clinic when I got incredibly dizzy and lightheaded- I felt like I was about to pass out. I felt my heart beating in my head. I think I got sweaty and nauseous.

My colleagues took me to the ER where they took labs and ran an ECG. Labs were fine, but the ECG showed LBBB. I’ve never had an abnormal ECG. The doctor said he suspected I had an abnormal in the past and this isn’t new (I haven’t- I’d remember). He said I was dehydrated so I got fluids and was released with instructions to see a cardiologist.

I saw a cardiologist who ordered an echo and treadmill stress test- he explained that my LBBB is transient because it didn’t show up on the ECG he ran in the office and he wants to see if the stress test brings it back.

I went to the echo and stress test Friday. During the stress test, I started feeling bad around minute 4-5 and they stopped the test when the LBBB showed up. At that time, I felt unwell- discomfort from my neck to my jaw and teeth, dizzy, and just unwell. I rested there for a bit and the LBBB went away. Ever since that test though, I’m feeling very unwell. Tired, lethargic, and my heart rate is racing even when I’m laying down. This morning, it was between 110-145 at rest. I could feel flutters in my neck, a small bit of pressure in my chest area, and the jaw pain came back for a little bit, but that went away after a few minutes. I almost called 911- but I waited it out and now I just feel blah- better, but not good.

I don’t understand what’s going on. I don’t drink, smoke, do drugs, or even take medications. I love my job, I have a great life, so I don’t think I have a ton of stress. I’m so confused. I hope the echo gives answers.

I started using my Apple Watch to do ECG at home. I’m posting two of them here. Neither indicated fibrillation- but they look different. Any insights as to why the bottom one looks normal, but the top has more space between and less defined points at the top?
