I may be smiling but I'm feeling the pain (39)

It's going to take 3-6 months for my arm to look normal after the grease burn & it still hurts a week later. I'm fine, everything is fine, but come on.

EDIT: I can't believe I misspelled Web! Also below I'm attached a written explanation of this metaphor in case you're like me & like to have visuals paired with words.

A friend who's been in in IT for 20 years sent me this picture earlier today. It helps me to have a metaphor like this made visible & I wanted to share in case it helps anyone else.

"It helps to think of web apps like a restaurant. The front of the restaurant (client-side) is the web app — it’s got a bunch of tables and chairs where you can sit a dine — that’s all HTML. It defines the structure of the joint. It’s also got a bunch of decor, lighting, art, branding, and other stylistic elements. That’s the CSS - it defines the look and feel of the place. You have menus which are like your UI — a combination of HTML (buttons, forms, controls, etc) and CSS (styling, color, fonts etc). When you make a request from a menu, it goes to a worker (Javascript) whose job is to take your request, follow a series of instructions (code), communicate it to the back of the house (via API), and then bring you your food (data). Meanwhile, in the back of the house (server-side), there are other workers performing entirely different operations (perhaps Python or Java), and their job is to turn raw ingredients (unstructured data from database that must be processed) into dishes (product/application data that is useful) and send it back to the user to consume. The database is the fridge/pantry where the raw ingredients are stored."
