We bought a house 1 year ago. We live near a big city in Europe.

The kitchen of our house is in good state, possibly too good to re-do it completely.

However we find the lay-out quite awkward. We find that there is not enough counter top space (for preparing food or stalling machines like an air fryer) as well as not enough pantry space (hence the mismatched glass table situation we added in the corner).

When we have friends over, there is no designated “lounging area” for guests to hang around while we are cooking (like a small bar) which makes them stand around awkwardly.

Please help us think of ideas on how we can improve the functionality of our kitchen without completely re-doing it. Or, if that’s in your opinion truly the only solution, how would you do the lay-out in case of a complete re-do?

I got my grandmothers 18K wedding ring melted into a new wedding ring. This was done by a long-standing jeweler with a good reputation. I have now worn it for only 1 month and it has already quite some scratches and marks on it. I take off my ring during sleep and showers and don’t do physical labour or anything, just normal day-to-day things. It’s not even worn on my dominant hand.

Is it normal for 18K gold to scratch so easily? I’m wondering if the jeweler didn’t add some kind of “protective” layer that rings should have (or something like that , don’t know a lot about jewelry)??
