Arrow pass material for Simsek Sipahi?

I recently purchased a base model Simsek Sipahi bow (without the leather wrapping), and was wondering what material I should use for the arrow pass.

I’ve shot maybe 2000 arrows through my current AF Turkish bow without eating through the leather arrow pass, but it shows definite signs of scuffing.

I’ve considered rayskin as an option, but the piece my friend has is rather thick. I’ve also seen suggestions of using UHMW tape as a thin arrow pass, but it doesn’t seem common. So I wanted to ask what folks have done with their own Simseks or other similar bows. Thank you!

Question about GPP and horse bows

I recently transitioned from shooting 500 spine 30” arrows that weighed 505 grains over to 600 spine 30” arrows weighing roughly 321 grains. The difference in speed and trajectory is insane, and I’ve really enjoyed sending them down range and on trail shoots.

I currently shoot a 40lb at 28” AF turkish bow (the $119 model) that has an unlisted GPP in their website, but recently found out it was listed at 9 GPP on their Amazon listing. My rough measurement of my draw is 27.5“ so roughly on par.

With my 600 30” grain arrows, they are on the cusp of 8 GPP. I’ve heard that shooting too low of a GPP is akin to dry firing, which does scare me a bit.

I’ve shot those arrows a few hundred times for a few weeks, and doesn’t look like there is any visible damage on my bow from limb to siyah, so I’m wondering (and hoping) if there is a bit of a grace range for GPP.

I’ve watched some Armin Hirmer reviews where he lists a GPP range for some bows (usually 8-10) but it’s got me questioning if I need to replace my remaining arrows asap.
