As predicted...

..my post 'Seems Anna's principles don't always apply' - a polite post remonstrating against inconsistence which was, exactly as according to the rules again "somewhat about Anna's" - has been deleted. It was, for those who remember (or care), about the deleting of an earlier post about the likely beneficial effect of imminently crippled Kindles on Anna's usage. But hey ho. I guess the philosophy of open information really doesn't always apply here when the Mods are so thin-skinned. Expect this is to disappear too. I'm off to less hypocritical forums such as /piracy. Thank you to all who bothered to reply and engage and whose voices have also been silenced on this subject.

And for those preparing a snarky answer to my complaint: I don't care that much any more, having made a point.

Seems Anna's principles don't always apply lol

I've posted twice here of late about how a recent decision to cripple Kindles worldwide by Amazon will only serve to benefit Anna's, with a large degree of interest by members in the subject resulting - only to see the posts removed by the mods, even when I tweaked things to make Anna's more prominent. (NB The rule here only say that " Posts need to be somewhat related to the archive" )The irony of all this is that Anna's principles specifically, er, relate to such concerns as recognising that information wants to be free, while encouraging others to assist in preserving and sharing data, that knowledge should not be restricted but available to all, etc. What's going on? My post was relevant to Anna's, after all especially second time round.

For those who do really appreciate the free transmission of information see the original points I made while you have a chance, that was ,yes, obviously somewhat related to Anna's, here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/fuckamazon/comments/1tcxzxl/amazons_arrogance_gifts_to_anna/

I can expect this objection to be deleted too; but it needed saying as a reminder that saying one thing and doing another has a word for it - while muting me is not a good look. Very disappointing.

Amazon's arrogance gifts to Anna

The recent foolhardy and arrogant decision by Amazon, to completely discontinue store access and software updates for legacy Kindle devices released in 2012 or earlier

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=TRXsYxKJr4WTdsVs2P

is relevant here.

Such Kindle owners will no longer purchase new e-books, borrow library books, or browse the Kindle store directly from the device from May 20th. Amazon think they are smart by thereby obliging readers to buy a new device to enjoy their services. In actual fact they are just as likely to see some readers turn their perfectly usable Kindle's airplane mode on permanently (to avoid unwanted book removals) and side load books from pirate sites like Anna's Archive via such free software as Calibre instead. Amazon are not so much removing older devices while retaining the custom, as removing customers who would otherwise be buying from them loyally and legally.
