Out-of-order SMS alert system

I am planning to build a software that can alert owners of out-of-order washer/dryer. Each equipment will have a unique QR code (generated by the software) which the owner will print and stick on the equipment. If a customer wants to report a non-working equipment, they will simply scan the QR code and the system will automatically send an SMS to the owner and also keep a log of all the reports of all the equipment for a particular laundromat which the owner can access anytime to see the trends of which equipment is performing poorly or at what times they usually malfunctioned.

What do you think the chances of such a software being useful to laundromat owners? If you think it is useful, how much do you think a laundromat owner would likely pay a month for such a system?

Anytone 25 W mobile radio

I am a new Tech. Got my license couple weeks ago. I am looking to get a 25 W mobile radio for my SUV.

Will this Anytone AT-778 UV radio bundle with 38” antenna with a NMO lip mount a good option within this price range?

Anything I am missing out on? Is there any other brand or model that might be significantly better than this close to a similar price range?

Getting licensed soon (hopefully)

My technician class exam is about a week from now. I have always been quite curious about amateur radio and have been lurking around the subreddit for a while now.

Like the title says, I have a technician class exam scheduled for next week. I am looking to buy my first 2 m and 70 cm dual band radio that is inexpensive. I plan to take it slow and upgrade gears as I continue to experiment more and learn new things.

I know the usual go-to dual band radio for many beginners is the UV-5R. However, I want to have the ability to listen to air band and the 1.25 m band as well. The M-5R is a triband option, but I read that it is horrible in terms of quality. What would you recommend for me?

Note: I eventually plan to buy the ATS MINI V4 and the RTL-SDR as well for listening to various waves.

Should I just then go with the tried-and-tested UV-5R and worry about other bands later?

Recommendation letters?

Have you guys provided recommendation letters to anyone? If you have, do you put in a letter head of his current postdoc institute? Or do you use a plain white paper? What’s the procedure for this? Someone recently asked me for recommendation letter (I am a postdoc at an R1 university).
