Problem in Ansys explicit dynamics simulation

Hi everyone,

I'm running an Explicit Dynamics simulation in ANSYS Mechanical. My model consists of an impactor, supports, and the main specimen(beam)

When I change the Stiffness Behavior of the impactor and supports from Flexible to Rigid, those bodies immediately become Undefined, and a question mark appears next to them in the Geometry tree (shown in the screenshot).

If I leave them as flexible, everything works normally. The issue only happens after I set them to rigid.

Has anyone run into this before? I'm trying to figure out whether it's caused by the geometry, contacts, material assignment, body interactions, or something else.

I'd really appreciate any suggestions on what I should check. Thanks!

ANSYS simulation of a 3D-printed multi-material part – guideline

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to perform a simulation in ANSYS on a 3D-printed object that consists of multiple materials. The geometry is already modeled, but I'm confused about how to properly assign and define the material properties in the simulation.

My main questions are:

How should I set up a multi-material 3D-printed part in ANSYS?

Do I need to create separate bodies for each material region?

How are the interfaces between different materials handled?

What material properties are essential if I want to perform structural analysis?

Are there any recommended tutorials or papers for multi-material additive manufacturing simulations?

I'm relatively new to this type of simulation, so any guidance, examples, or workflow recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Can't create mesh interface in ANSYS Fluent for Savonius + Helical Darrieus turbine

Hi everyone,

I'm working on a 3D CFD simulation of a combined Savonius and helical Darrieus turbine.

The geometry was designed in SolidWorks, then I made some modifications in SpaceClaim before meshing. The problem starts when I open the setup in Fluent. ANSYS isn't detecting the interface zones between the rotating and stationary domains.

Instead, I see shadow boundary zones around the turbines, and the Mesh Interface option doesn't seem to work.

I've checked the geometry several times but can't figure out what went wrong. Has anyone faced something similar? Is this a geometry issue, a meshing issue, or something related to SpaceClaim/Named Selections?

Any advice would be appreciated. I've attached some screenshots below.

Thanks!
