AI is a threat to Democracy

Based on the CGP Grey video Rules for Rulers, in that video the following gets stated:

>"The more the wealth of the nation comes from the productive citizens of the nation, the more the power gets spread out, and the more the ruler must maintain the quality of life of its citizens. The less, the less."

Large Language Models have the potential to topple the democracies we live in. When they become so good that they completely dwarf the productivity of their citizens. The potential is there to completely cut out the citizens entirely. Only keeping the citizens in power that can work and maintain the resources and infrastructure needed to keep the large language models operating.

So we do not even need AGI to take over at all. It needs to be able to operate good enough for it to be worth it to cut out the citizens entirely. When it will happen not sure. It is a big gamble to take so it will happen most likely when there is a big crisis or instability where a government can be toppled.

How do you face problems head on?

I'm rewatching Avatar: The Last Airbender and just got to the episode Bitter Work. Watching Aang struggle with earthbending made me realize how much I approach problems like an airbender myself.

In the episode Aang's instinct is to move around the rock. Toph's lesson is that sometimes you can't. You have to face it head on.

It made me realize I do the same thing. My first instinct is always to find a smarter way around a problem instead of just doing the hard thing. I keep looking for an easier solution rather than accepting that sometimes you just have to do it.

How do you get yourself to stop looking for better ways of doing things and just face the problem head on?
