Advice needed

Hi
I met with Eye surgeon today, I had already met one before, I had met his assistant earlier and I had made her clear that I do not want premium lenses. So the Surgeon was aware I want to go for OHIP lense, but he said I have high astigmatism so I have to go for the best lense which is Toric so that I don't need glasses for far sight after cataract surgery that is Enhanced Single Focus (ESF) IOL Upgrade with Cornea Shape 3
Her assistant later informed me the cost is $1645 per eye, $1000 for measurement and $645 for lense
I saw a video on youtube that any person can pay so much for Toric lense, yet end up with no satisfactory vision if the lense is just a bit off, it would not give desired effects and that happens quite often, video said
What do you suggest, I should do?

Cataract Surgery Questions

Hi
Please advice which lense should I go for? and is the technician correct ?
I got referral from an optimist and went to see a second eye technician and my appointment with the eye surgeon is in another 3 days
The technician said following, which my first surgeon and technician had not told but they had another cost for me that was $400 stating for accurate laser measurement versus free outdated OHIP ultra sound free measurement

  1. Replacing the lese through OHIP is a little painful and you will see it happen, but doing it through Lasor is free of those but costs C$1200 per eye
  2. OHIP lense is a basic lense and you cannot know if your far or near sight will get corrected until you get your eyes checked after the surgery
  3. ESF lense gives the choice of far or near monovision correction but has different prices per eye - C$550 no astigmatism shape 1 - $945 Low to modern Astigmatism shape2 and $1725 moderate to high astigmatism and similarly ESF+ from $880, $1295 and $2530
  4. I did not let her tell about other premium lenses
  5. She then said I have slightly dry eyes and she will do debris cleaning with chemical for $60 and $40 eye drops from their pharmacy, as they are not available elsewhere. I refused that

Cataract Surgery

Hi, my right eye has blurred vision and needs cataract surgery, left eye is fine but the the surgeon said it too has developed cataract
I want to know

  1. Should I go for OHIP lenses or pay for the premium lenses? and If Premium lenses then there are 3 types of them, so which one? Surgeon had recommended premium saying first the measurement done through OHIP's ultra sound is 50 years old technology, second OHIP lenses will give halo at night
  2. Do premium lenses make night driving difficult?
  3. Should I get the left eye's cataract surgery done too ?
  4. Shoud I get a second opinion from another surgeon?
