Booking the room type

Its funny when people check in and they book a ADA room, and then proceed to complain when they get the room they booked.

"I didnt want a handicap room" Well Ms Idiot it's what you booked. I know people will book this type cuz it's cheaper or we have no basic kings/queens available so they think booking this room and saying they dont need it will make me go "OH good I can save it for a person that will need it." But it's never like that. If I do have the standard king/queen i inform them of the upgrade fee and they get upset for the $10 fee. I mean I know why you guys booked the ADA room and now youre still having to pay for it. MUWHAHA!!

Literally a lady comes to check in give her the whole spiel of confirming how many nights and even saying I see you booked our king suite with roll in shower accessibility room and she's all yes's. Do her CC etc.... give her keys 2 mins later she's back down here complaining about having an accessibility room. I inform its what she booked and she goes off saying she booked a standard king. I ask for her confirmation email or to check her app. Of course she KNOWS what she booked! I tell her I need to confirm. Of course reluctantly showing me that im right and shes wrong. Now had she been chill about the whole scenario I would've changed her to a standard king but she wanted to be a issue its a $10 upgrade which she can pay or stay in the ADA king. Well 10 bucks is 10 bucks so she stays in the original room but she will contact corporate about me. And corporate will most likely refund her cuz fuck your employees right?

Name tag and my name

My name isnt too hard to pronounce, and most likely you say my name everyday in casual convo. (No I wont say my name in here)

But recently I had my boss make a new badge for me to wear so I can mess around on D23 weekend. I work close to the Disneyland resort. So my new name badge was "Frank Castle" and wanted to see how many people would get the joke. Whats sad/weird is people said my name more times that weekend then theyve ever said when I wear my actual name. So thats where Ive come to my conclusion people are worried they'll say my name wrong. Like a few people caught on my pseudonym but some were like "Thanks Frank" or Excuse me Frank where is _________"

I may just keep my fake name on so at least people feel ok about saying my name. And then people can leave a bad review on FRANK CASTLE... LOL

Youre not even a guest

I swear people are either stupid, entitled, inconsiderate or All of the above!

I work at a property as a Night Audit by myself so I will lock the door, put up a sign saying "Use key or Push call button" and 85% of the people will tap on the glass or knock on it. When the sigh is literally at eye level

But tonight...OOOOOOOOO, tonight had a person delivering Uber-eats and Im gettting the breakfast area ready, so I have the door remote with me which will go off when someone presses the intercom button. Im in the back cleaning the coffee pots and come up to the front of the lobby to check to see if anyone is at the front desk. No one is at the front desk, BUT....... theres a person pushing open the locked sliding front lobby door. I yell at him what the hell are you doing. And he has the look of confusion. He was halfway through the door with a bag in his hand, so hes a delivery driver. He says in spanish the room number and I yelled back at him in spanish that hes breaking my door! Again a look of confusion and told him in spanish he has to push the intercom button and that the door is locked. He wanted to deliver the food to the room which I denied him access to the floors. (I usually let them go up but this dude pissed me off.) I told him to leave the food with me and leave and hope he didnt break my door.

Yes, the sign is in english, but if a door isnt opening and its an automatic door and theres a sign most likeyl theres a reason for it not opening!

But, the fact he couldnt comprehend the door not automatically opening or even when guests coming in with keys or guests checking in dont understand when a automatic sliding door doesnt open means its locked is mind boggling to me. And before you say they may not speak english, NO, Ive had people who are born in USA and speak english perfectly still get upset when theyve been srtanding there for a few moments and the door wont open with a huge sign saying "Press call button or use key to open door". Im always at a loss of words when this happens and I point to the control box not 2 feet, .66m, away from them that says "tap key or press intercom".

Impounded 30 day mandatory

Well it finally happened. I was speeding and got pulled over they said I was doing 90 in a 35mph. Which I dont believe cuz they don't have lidar or Radar on me. They took my insta360s and even my phone....which was weird and impounded my motorcycle for 30 days. Just got a lawyer. This is gonna be fun 😪😪😭😭

I know I wasn't doing 90 and I know that road isn't 35mph. If anything I was doing max 65 and it's 45. Cops just hating on bikers

Amenities

Am I wrong in thinking that just because the internet or satellite/cable isn't working guests deserve compensation?

Dish is out at my hotel and people want a free night. One lady said the reason she booked with us was for the satellite TV. Im calling BS on that but really you want a free night because you can't watch America's Got Talent.

I feel the main things that require compensation is dirty room, no water, wrong room type, or pass poor customer service. Other than that that be grateful you have a rood over your head, a bed under your body and hot/cold running water and toilet.

Your TV and internet not working because of the service provider is not out fault and therefore shouldn't be compensated. Or am I the only one that thinks that. I try to be a minimalist so I'm happy with a bed, shower and toilet.

Other than that wish all my FDA/NA family good luck and Happy 4th of July!

Late check outs.

The most unbelievable thing to me is when a guest wants a late check out because either they're A) partying, B) Their flight was delayed or sometimes C)LA traffic had them stuck on the 5 freeway for 6 hours.

B and C I will 1000% give you a late check out. A. I wont.

Literally 2 intoxicated guests first came in, saying how fun that club was and then come up and have the thought that they would like a late check out. Its summer in The Disneyland resort area, schools are out and its peak season for the theme park so housekeeping needs to turn those rooms around quick. I tell them late check is unavailable at this time. Again B and C scenarios I could allow a later check out. Its not the fault of the guest for their lateness, but drinking and being obnoxious isn't gonna cut for me. I dont need to overwork my underpaid housekeepers cuz you wanted to get sloshed. The 2 guests want to argue sayjng they'll pay more. Its not about the money from my POV. Its not fucking over my Housekeepers. I just tell them its not possible at this time and its getting to the point where I tell them if they check out after the designated time they will be charged a full night's rate. That gets them to stop arguing and of course give me the "we're gonna leave a bad review", I honestly dont care. I try to look out for the housekeepers.

Phones Exist...right

So for anyone following the news right now, my county is in a state of emergency because of a chemical leak. Im sure people have heard of it. Well 50000 people have been evacuated and been staying at hotels for the evacuations. My property being one of them if 100% occupancy.

So why is it with this HUGE emergency and news coverage I still get people walking into the door and asking if I have rooms and getting mad at me for not having availability? Yes even the "secret" room has been filled.

They will walk in ask for a room and when I tell them we're sold out, they give me their life story of how they've been driving and came here. Instead of calling to see if I even have rooms? Like search engines and cellular phones exist for this purpose. Do they think if they come in they'll have a better chance of getting a room? Like they'll trick me? Or I'll be lying yo them?

Its not so much them asking about rooms but them getting upset when I dont have any. Literally open any web browser page and it will tell you about the chemical spill and the evacuations.

Well im glad I didn't call in sick tonight. Was chatting with a guest about cars and motorcycles and we shot the shit for an hour. He was wirh his wife and kids and enjoyed actually talking about his interests for once and not family stuff. So he was grateful I told him his parking was waived because of the great convo nothing but just dude talk ya know.

20 mins later he's leaving going drinking and hands me a watch. Says his buddy works at Stirling, I think I've heard of them, but nope I was thinking Brietling. Im thinking a 50 bucks watch not too bad looks cool.

Well about 45 mins go by and curiosity gets the better of me, I break out the ol' phone and open Google lens and Google shows me the watch and Stirling website. I go to it and HOLY FUCK ITS A $474 WATCH!!!!!!

I dont know if I can accept this kind of gift. I thought it was a <$100 watch and here I have half a grand on my wrist! To say I was shocked is an understatement....I almost started hyperventilating. Im still unsure if I'm allowed to accept it....
