With the financial freedom after paying off your mortgage, what do you do with your extra money?

Thoughts?

Assuming the parents who offer to volunteer have completed a police record check and no concerns there, I'm curious to know how TDSB Elementary school teachers select parent volunteers for field trips? Is it just first-come-first-serve or switched up to ensure fairness or something else? Once you've made your selection, I understand you enter it into the system for office record-keeping. Does it go up to admin for further approval? I ask because I offer to be volunteer at every single trip for my Grade 1 child and never get picked. From what I understand, it's only a handful of the same parents who offer.

I'm a parent of a grade 2 student and so appreciative of everything our teacher has done. I want to buy her a $100 gift card but will be able to accept it (we're TDSB)? Would teachers feel uncomfortable accepting this amount? Also some of my friends think it's not a good idea because it may seem like a bribe for good grades but:

- I understand if my child was in highschool but this is grade 2 when marks and grades barely matter

- she's an amazing teacher and that's insulting to think she would change a grade based on a gift

- I will give it to her the day after report cards are given out

Asking as a parent... Anything I can do on my own for my kids' elementary school teachers who give so much to my 3 kids to honor Teacher Appreciation Week next week? Looking for different ideas - no gift cards because I do that in June already at the end of the year. Thanks!
