The meaning of stares?

Hello! I'm looking to move to Panama in the future and visited for the first time in 2025. I loved the food, people, and the places I went to. I know I was a tourist at the time but I was stared at a lot - not in a condescending way but a very intrigued way. It went beyond, "Oh, there's a tourist. I wonder where they're from". I'm black american with a tanned/caramel complexion with red, yellow, and orange undertones. I had my my hair in a slicked textured bun, sunglasses, hat, and water bottle. I noticed that some Panamians approached me in Spanish and others in English.

Out of all the countries I've been to, I never experienced this before at this level. It was men and women and don't remember kids doing this. I do speak a decent level of Spanish and am sure I have "American" mannerisms. I am well aware that Panama has a strong afro-descendant population. I do have native ancestry as well. Would love to hear from Panamians what's their thoughts on this.

The Ignored Aftermath

I've been a combination of over and underemployed these past two years since being laid off in 2024. I had hundreds of rejections, failed interviews, and a rescinded offer. I've had to get two minimum wage jobs to pay bills but those aren't even helping to cover most of them because our electricity bill and car insurance has surged by 150%. This has been the most mentally depressing and draining period of my life! I've tried donating plasma, my eggs, selling off things, working mpre hours, and my wheels keep spinning in place. To top it off, I've been diagnosed with GERD and suffering other ailments.

What happens after you get that job and/or financial situation changes? I myself can say for sure I'll never feel trusting of a job again. I'd feel guilty for wanting a vacay before starting a new role because I know I need a xomplete reset. Going through the cleanup of my life's mess would be another mental burden. Starting ALL OVER financially makes me shudder. It's not the end reault but the process that no one talks about. I don't think no one talks about how traumatic an experience like this is and just think that as soon as a job is found, everything falls into place.

I try my best to see the positive and be one of those people who say, "Being laid off was the best thing that happened to me!', but I can't. I just survive and work and work and work! Nothing to show for except 2yr+ old debt and piling bills! I feel the pressure everyday and just accept being helpless in my situation...

How to sell a game concept?

Hello hello! I'm a former game designer and full-time creative. A few years back, I drafted an original story concept and game design doc I think is interesting. I fleshed out game mechanics, scenery, level design, and more. If I wanted to sell this to a game publisher and/or developer, how can I do that? I currently don't have means or time to hire a team and develop in house. I think this game would be great for a AA studio.

Young people in 20s and 30s?

I've been learning a lot about Panama from older people 40+ but where's the younger crowd? I want their perspective on living there. The best hang out spots, parties, and recreation. I'm 29F and athletic and consider myself an ambivert. I'm open to meeting new people and knowing the culture deeper. I like gardening, exercising, sports, video games, and cooking. Can't remember the name of the park but it was a huge one in PTY and couldn't get enough of it! It was right off the water and Avenida Balboa I think. I do speak intermediate Spanish and am comfortable with daily interactions. I'd like to become fluent.
