Confession: I like CREC worship. Send help.

My husband and I are looking for a new church home and for a long time I attended what I thought was a reformed flavor Presbyterian church. Unfortunately it turned out to be a CREC church.

The only problem is that I absolutely adore the worship style and liturgy at this church. I feel so focused on worship here and love the hymns. They put me in an appropriate frame of mind. We’ve been to two other PCA churches in our area and found their worship style a lot more modern, fluffy and lacking. The CREC church is also incredibly welcoming and hospitable.

But I feel that a lot of the baggage associated with the CREC is a stumbling block for me when I’m trying to focus. I’ve done a lot of research on the CREC and I’m not sure if I’m letting my preconceived notions about them affect what could be a great church home. Is it worth pursuing this church, maybe addressing some of my concerns with their leadership or am I just prolonging an inevitable disappointment? Is there another denomination I should be looking for that has very traditional worship and a more high church service style but without the weird political and social baggage? Or am I looking for a unicorn? Anyone else run into this? Thanks in advance. :/

Location is DFW TX if anyone has suggestions!

Is it allergic asthma or am I just panicking?

Never had a history with asthma but about a week and a half ago I began to struggle to breathe and had a heavy feeling chest. My throat also swells sometimes if I’m trying to eat or struggling to breathe. It feels like there’s a tight lump inside. I love running but I get breathless now if I just push a shopping cart. My spouse says I’m snoring way more than usual even though I’m not experiencing nasal congestion. I have chronic allergies and occasionally this year I’ve had “panic attacks” that seemed to only occur when my allergies were really bad (I live in Texas sadly lol).

I’ve taken three doses of discus Advair (following instructions as closely as possible) but the problem is my doctor said before a diagnosis to keep taking my emergency albuterol inhaler from when I had bronchitis and the albuterol seems to only help off and on. I am also taking Xanax because I have a breathing and swallowing phobia and keep having panic attacks (which are of course compounded by the albuterol). I’m not seeing any relief from the Advair yet. The Xanax helps me cope mentally but I still feel the chest tightness.

All the pulmonologists and allergists can’t see me for months longer and I don’t know how I’m going to function or go to work for the next several months. I don’t understand why I’m not getting relief from ANYTHING. Does this ring true with anyone else? How long has Advair taken to work for some of you struggling with asthmatic allergies? Or could there be something completely different at play? Thank you in advance. :(

I wish I knew if this was asthma or not

I’ve (28F) been to my primary doctor and an emergency clinic. I’ve had an x ray done, tests for viruses, etc. All normal.

These symptoms have rapidly become worse over the past several days.

The pulmonologist I was referred to can’t see me until September and the allergist until October. I’m feeling incredibly down due to nothing being able to be diagnosed or addressed and nothing giving me relief. The constant panic attacks are wearing me out and I can’t breathe so I can’t focus on work or workout like I used to. Does this sound like something anyone else has dealt with? Do I just need to be patient and give the Advair more time? I don’t feel like I can mentally last this way until September. Thank you in advance. :(
