How do I break up with my girlfriend who lives with her parents

My 29M and my gf 28F have been together for a year. There is no privacy at her place. The house is so acoustic you can hear every sound coming from my gf's room and I can't imagine myself explaining myself to her mother as well and I'm sure she will ask because she always wants to know everything.

My place is also a bad idea because I can't have her drive for 2 hours so distressed back to her city.

In this situation can I do it over the phone?

edit: the reason I want to break up is not her living with her parents. I'm over her. I thought I loved her but the last couple of months made me realize I'm lying to myself and her. I want to end this but I don't know how.

How do I break up with girlfriend who lives with her parents

My 29M and my girlfriend 28F have been together for a year now. For the first half of our relationship I really did believe I developed feelings for her, but the last couple of months I feel like they are melting away...

It's hard for me to say this because she is amazing in general and she's been so good to me, but I no longer perceive her as my lover, but rather a good friend. When I say I love her I feel like I'm lying to her and I hate to do that.

I've been wanting to break up with her for a while now but she keeps planning or buying something for us, or is excited about our future plans and tells me that, so I just go along with it instead of doing what's right. And it's been like that for a few months. I try to be the best I can for her and not show any signs which makes it harder because she will be in total shock and heart broken.

She keeps telling me how she thought she would never fall in love with someone again before she met me, she started to take care of her fitness and health in general with me because she is so full of life now. And I feel like I'm gonna snatch it all away from her which kills me.

The other problem is she lives with her parents who also treat me as family, which is the reason I can't do that in her house because I don't wanna explain myself to them too. My place is also a bad idea because she lives almost 2 hours way from my home and I can't bring her to my place only to send her back so distressed.

Is doing that over the phone appropriate?

Because I feel like I have no other choice.
