Velvia 50, Fuji 100 and Ektar 100 on 16mm

Submini makes a films qualities more apparent, Ektar and Velvia 50 are top of my favourites, Fuji100 is a bit of a weak stock for 16mm in my view a little muddy.
Fuji 200 and 400 (or whatever they are these days) have a bit more grain which lends a bit more character.

Dog - Reflex Lab ektachrome | Pentax Auto 110 | home dev

Slide film is peerless on 16mm cameras with a decent pressure plate - so I was excited to see how it would do on 110.

The photos all look lovely but as with my other experiences with reflex labs 110 the registration holes mean it’s easy to slip and take double exposures or skip exposures all together.

Given that, and the perforation at the bottom isn’t my favourite look, and I regularly slit slide films anyway; I would be more inclined to slit up a 35mm roll of ektachrome to repack a 110 cassette than purchase it again. Hope they can work out smaller registration holes. 🤞

Fortuna 110

Reflex Fortuna 110 (attempt 2)

So, my first test with Fortuna didn’t go as planned because of some cheap LR44 cells leading to lots of underexposure.

For attempt 2, I decided to buy some name brand batteries. I usually test submini in low light and often use my (sometimes uncooperative) parrot for subjects.

It was a mixed bag this time:

  1. I had to clear some fibers from the cassette that could’ve affected the negatives.
  2. I’m not sure if the slitting or perforations are slightly off because I had a few skipped images—17 usable out of 24, plus one unintended double exposure.

It seems like quality control might need some work. Fingers crossed these issues get resolved; but I realize this is the cheapest 110 film out there at under £5 GBP, compared to Lomography’s £6.90.

Despite these issues, I’m really happy with the emulsion quality. To me, it stands out as the nicest of the commercial 110 films available. 🤞 Let’s hope QC improves
