24 hours smoke free (not nicotine free yet)
24 hours smoke free (not nicotine free yet)
I tried cold turkey a couple of times and went through craving hell for days days before I quit quitting.
Vaping had worked for me much better once. It helped tremendously getting over the worst part easier than I had initially thought. I was nicotine free for over 5 weeks and the cravings were manageable.
Liquids gave me control over reducing nicotine and the vaping itself gave me something to do instead of smoking cigarettes. I had reduced the nicotine to 0mg over about two to three weeks with little cravings. That method seemed to work for me and after a couple of days with 0mg nicotine I also naturally lost interest in vaping so I put the vape and liquids away and didn’t take the vape with me when I left the house.
I had underestimated triggers. I went to a bar with friends and had one single cigarette even though I didn’t even crave it. I was just tipsy and stupid and it set me back to where I started. I‘ve learned from that.
Last week I felt an intrinsic motivation and will to quit again. So yesterday I bought a refill pod vape and liquids, sat outside the shop and started vaping. After vaping I smoked one last cigarette. It tasted awful and I couldn’t even finish it.
It’s 24 hours. I think about smoking here and there but vaping helps a lot for now and I‘m positive that it will work a second time.
I plan to be nicotine free in 2-3 weeks and since it feels as easy as my first try with vaping and how awful cigarettes taste and smell it seems quite achievable right now.
