Apologies if this is the wrong way to ask this, but hopefully this post is helpful for me and also helpful for paralegals in the area going forward.

We are going to advertise for an experienced paralegal position at our (small) personal injury firm located in Northern Virginia. I want to make sure that we are offering a competitive salary and benefits. I’m not interested in hiring someone for less than they are worth.

We are looking for someone with, let’s say, 5-10 years of experience (or more!).

What would be a fair salary / bonus for such a paralegal? Looking for benchmarks in large suburban areas, or Northern VA specifically if anyone wants to chime in. We’re not necessarily looking for bilingual, but Spanish is always helpful so I imagine that factors into price as well.

Was just called today. Previous finance clerk already moved out of the ward. Any tips or resources? Is there a video training series on all the essential?

They make absolutely no sense.

It’s an odd way to try to interact with ghosts. It just doesn’t make sense that a ghost would be able to (a) modulate control across frequency modulated channels, and (b) have perfect knowledge of what is about to be said on each channel as you scan your way past it.

Stories of ghosts communicating with humans predates the radio, so why would the radio be an effective medium? Especially scanning across channels.

If you firmly believe that ghosts can communicate using the 88-108 MHz band (which, again, is an unlikely proposition) then why wouldn’t you tune to an unused channel in your area and let the ghostie speak to you directly using that channel.

Ghosts aren’t Bumblebee from transformers.

The only argument that holds any water for me here is that spirit boxes produce all sorts of fun false positives so you can get the chills with your friends in an old insane asylum on Friday the 13th. That’s it.

I’m bringing my Steam Machine on a family vacation to our Vrbo. So we can all play jackbox games, some local coop, and so forth. I also want to bring a harddrive with some movies and other media on it and be able to play that via the steam machine. How likely is that? Can I go into desktop mode and just play them with a native Linux app or VLC or something?

How am I going to pull this costume off?? My kid latched hard onto the idea of Rocky and now I have to come up with something. I am a pretty capable maker, so hit me with all of your ideas!

Edit: here’s what I’ve come up with so far. Cardboard carapace around his waist. His legs are two of Rocky’s legs, and we add three more in the front. He wears a black top and uses strings to puppet the front three legs
