Fun Colours Outfit Challenge: Playing with Various Forms of the Colour Theory...

So for this challenge I decided to basically show off a bit of colour theory. since this challenge is about fun colours, and the mere fact that I've been adding more and more colour to my outfits over the past year or two, and have basically been playing with colour theory in order to spark some new life to my wardrobe, and to also provide a fun twist to the typical alternative fashion that you tend to see out there, I've decided to showcase a few outfits that I have done recently that Illustrates this. And each of the outfits are sorted by colour harmonies.

So starting things off, I made an outfit that uses the split complimentary palette. technically the split should be between green, orange, and purple, but since I don't really have a lot of orange in my closet, I replaced it with yellow instead. so technically it's a hybrid of split and classic complementary colours, and together I find this colour palette to be quite pleasing to the eyes. And this was such a fun outfit too! My favourite part of this outfit besides the graphic tee would have to be the bat tights, the donut crossbody purse, and the little ghost earrings that I personally made myself! I really thing it ties to the theme quite nicely and to think that this outfit all started in my head and me obsessively staring at the donut purse and the green top and having me think of a idea to put together something that is cool and fun and a bit playful, and true to me.

Next up is the complimentary colours and here I did purple and yellow and red and green. surprisingly, I actually like the red/green combo? especially when balanced with the black? it makes it look perfectly alt and less Christmassy since usually this colour combo evokes that feeling but here, I just see it as just another bold colour pairing choice! and though I do prefer the yellow/purple combo since one of my favourite colours is purple!! the red/green isn't too bad! I also find it funny how the two colour combos also creates this type of artist vibe in my head if that makes sense? perhaps its the hat? or maybe it's because of the fact that we are playing with colour theory here, but I feel like the red and the green creates more of a bolder, funky and a somewhat rebellious vibe where as the purple and the yellow creates more of a dreamy, sensual and radiant vibe. and yet somehow she's a bit more mischievous and a prankster compared to the red and the green!

And then we have the triadic colours. specifically purple and (mint) green, and red and yellow. the purple and mint green creates a dreamy feeling and appearance; like a colourful and mythical gothic princess that stepped out into the real world... just to go do some grocery shopping! 😂 No joke, I actually did wear this out to run errands in because that's what I was in the mood for on that day, and also I was curious about how the purple and the mint green would look together!! but this can totally be worn for a night out as well! Meanwhile the red and yellow combo evoked a powerful feeling! very rock n roll and punk all mashed up into one with a touch of glam and a sprinkle of spice on top! this was one of the few times that I've actually paired red and yellow together since I don't have too many red items in my closet and most of my yellow items are tops so this combo doesn't really come up too much but when it does... *chefs kiss* it's passionate. it's bold. and its unapologetic!! it needs to take up space!! I don't wear flares much because I'm vertically challenged (😭), which is a shame because some of the flares and baggy pants that I see out there comes in these bold colours and prints and it's like I would love to experiment on them some more and see how else I can style them and such! but yeah long story short, these two outfits were also fun to put together and is also one of my favourites!!

And finally, we have the monochromatic colours. and at first I thought it was analogous until I did my research, and it turns out that these are actually monochromatic, since we are adding the white to the red to make pink! so anyways this pairing was quite unexpected! I didn't expect to fall in love with this colour combo and I'm quite please with how it turned out! though with this particular pairing, it felt a little blah for some reason? (see the very last slide to see what I mean!) like it needed something else to add some more pizzaz to the look. and so i reached for a fluffy black fur coat and at first it felt like it was a bit much so I took it off before realizing that the outfit was missing something without it. it needed some more life added to it and so I tried it again with the coat and then added in my accessories and some sunglasses and a beanie to finish the look off and I ended up creating something that I can only describe as urban? I know it's not just urban, like its probably something like an urban diva or something like that? or I guess someone who is casually punk that decided to dip their toes into some glamour while rolling around in some grit and toughness! my favourite part of this outfit besides the coat would have to be the alien choker since it not only adds a pop of colour to this technically monochromatic look, but it's also a slight nod to the complimentary as well.

I had fun with this challenge and going through some of the outfits that I had created recently that would fit right in with this prompt! Please let me know what you guys think!

Dressing in ☀️🪨🌸 as a 🌙☀️🪨

So today I wanted to share some outfits that I had done and had worn a while ago, and I was feeling quite nostalgic about the past, and about my childhood and I wanted to take some inspiration from that, and try and recreate some of the outfits that I used to wear as a child. or at least wear clothing that would be quite similar to that since my childhood roots was ☀️🪨🌸.

So compared to my actual childhood outfits which tended to lean a bit more into 🪨 and 🌸 with a sprinkle of ☀️ on top, these outfits that I had recreated using a few outfit inspos from Ellie-Jeans ☀️🪨🌸 board, tend to lean a bit more into ☀️ and 🪨 with a sprinkle of 🌸 on top.

And I guess in a sense, I was trying to to see if I could create outfits that didnt have any 🌙 in it whatsoever and... lets just say that these were the only three outfits that i can think of that was quite satisfying for me, which isnt too bad considering that I'm usually lost without 🌙 anywhere in my fits. I guess I do need that bit of emotional depth. and edge to my looks in order to feel like myself and to actually feel comfortable in my skin since without it, the outfit risks looking too bright or too sweet and honestly i don't know if i can vibe with that tbh!

For reference, I've also included some pinterest pictures to show how I was inspired by the outfit and how I managed to put my own spin on the look using what I had in my closet!

So what about you? do you ever try to recreate looks that you had in your youth? and by that I do mean do you try to recreate looks based on the roots that you had when you were younger using the clothing that you currently own?

Have my roots changed from 🌙☀️🪨? Or has it remained the same?

Hey! Sorry for the long hiatus. Real life (offline) stuff and all kept me from being in the right frame of mind to participate on here and so I've come back and I guess in my absence I've started to grow concerned about a few things.

And that's just it! I feel like nothing has changed in me at all but yet whenever i do online analysis of my more recent outfits and such (both semi casual or formal and casual outfits) it's coming back with a different result than what my usual style roots are, and it's telling me that i now have 🌙☀️🌸. and its really frustrating since i didn't feel like i dropped a certain root or any roots to be completely honest with you!! i still have uses for all of them as far as i know, like basically the only thing that i did was buy a ton of kimonos and satin slip dresses in various different prints and just add it to my outfits as like another layer to my ensemble or as a way to add some juxtaposition to my fits!! all while remaining true to what my wants and needs are for an outfit!

so why is it that whenever i use an online source to try and have it read my outfits and tell me what my roots are and such it's telling me that I dont have 🪨 in any of it?

and so I've come to ask after being away for many months. and based on the recent outfits that I have worn as well as the outfits that I had analyzed, does it look like that my roots have changed? or does it look the same and 🌸 just hitched on to be a part of the ride?
