Shifting issues

I recently bought a 2025 Vulcan s cafe model. And had issues right out of the lot with shifting down while holding the clutch in, and I meant to ask sooner but am just now getting around to it, but is this normal for this bike?

For example, if I am in 6th, and I need to stop quickly, I can’t pull in the clutch and click my way down to 1st, it’ll get stuck at like 3rd and then my shifter gets squishy u til I partially engage that third gear and then I’ll be able to click down to 2nd. If I don’t manually downshift and engage every gear as I’m stopping at least into 3rd or 2nd when I stop I will not be able to get into 1st.

Some people say you should be doing it like this anyways but when you need to stop quick it’s not practical to be sitting there messing with your shifter and clutch because it won’t just go into first so you can take back off.

I just hit my 600 mile mark for my first service but again it’s been like this since I bought it. To avoid issues I am forced to downshift / rev match all the way down to 1st at every single stop.

My new bike!

Been debating for a while and had lots of encouragement on the Vulcan so I went for it. Got the 2025 cafe edition for less than 9k out the door. Rode it 80 miles home as my first time on any bike other than my Grom clone. Super comfortable and manageable bike.

Looking to get crash bars, a rear seat/rack, a better windscreen, and eventually maybe a new headlight and exhaust. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Will it work for me?

Hi all, I’m a new rider. Been learning the last 2 months on a Grom clone, and have gotten accustomed to the standard seating position.

I need to upgrade, because I need to be able to climb a steep hill as well as freeway capabilities to get to work, and I am torn between the Vulcan and the Eliminator.

I am leaning towards the Vulcan, but the feet positioning is what’s making me doubt it. I’m going to try to go and see if I can sit on a couple just to feel it out, but as a 5’6 145lb male I am worried about control and weight with the cruiser style foot positioning. I have no doubts with the eliminator other than the bike being slightly underpowered.

Any thoughts here? Will I be able to manage the Vulcan? I am very confident on my Grom currently and think I would adapt well but it’s a tough decision without riding one or either for a little while.

Vasco Rd - Eliminator vs Vulcan

Looking for a bike to get me through 580 / vasco every day, I think Vulcan would do better because of the weight and wind resistance just want some opinions, thanks!

Need a 1st ‘real’ bike

Bought a Honda Grom Clone that I’ve been practicing and learning with the last 2 months. My end goal is to be able to commute to work on my bike. It’s 36 miles with about 10 being intense hills and the rest being flat highway. I have my MSF course scheduled for early next month and will be shopping immediately after getting my license.

I’m torn and keep going back and forth between these-

I love the style of the Royal Enfield line, I’ve heard great things about it and it fits my budget, but the 350 would not be powerful enough and the 650s do not seem beginner friendly as they are on the heavier side, people say they would be great weekend rider type of bikes but not for commuting. Unfortunately RE doesn’t have anything else in between that has that classic/ retro motorcycle style, which is what I really like.

With that being said, the only other bikes I can find that I kind of like are a Yamaha Mt07 or Suzuki sv650 also considering a z650rs.

All of those bikes are light with plenty of power and I feel like as a beginner and for a commuter would work just fine but I really would prefer something with the more classic look, but while also having a somewhat upright or maybe even sporty seating style ( maybe cafe racer? Need to try) any pointers are greatly appreciated! I plan to go on a few test rides after getting my license to really feel out what I’m capable of on larger bikes, how they all feel comfort wise and what will work.

Recommendations for Commute

New rider looking to eventually commute to work.

Have to cross either Vasco or Altamont and 580 every day, yes I know it’s a stupid idea -

Anyways, I really like the way Royal Enfield’s look but would probably go for the 350 vs the 650 just due to weight, I don’t think having a super heavy bike is going to be comfortable for commuting but maybe I’m wrong? But im concerned about not having enough power with the 350.

I’ve rode a ninja 400 and think it would do great but am not a huge fan of the racing style bike. I am otherwise I’m leaning towards an mt07 because of the mix of plenty (maybe too much) power and light weight.

I don’t want anything too powerful but don’t want anything too heavy either.

I prefer the classic motorcycle style like RE but will settle for something slightly sporty if it makes sense.

35 mile commute

From what I’ve seen the answer is no unless I go super expensive, but basically I have a commute that is about 15 miles of intense hills and 20 hwy (75mph). Could anything realistically handle this that I won’t be spending like $15,000 on?
