complete beginner at cold email where do I even start?

Our team has been trying to figure out cold email for the past month and honestly feeling pretty lost. My boss want me to start reaching out to potential clients but I have no idea where to begin.

I've read some basic cold email tips online but they all seem to contradict each other some say keep it short other say you need to personalize everything. Some say follow up 7 time others say that is too pushy. My boss keeps asking for updates and i don't even have a coherent strategy to show him yet.

Rn I'm manually finding contacts on linkedin which takes forever. Tried a few chrome extensions but the data is usually outdated, i've been looking at tools like cognism and apollo for finding email addresses at scale also checking out prospeo since a couple people in another thread said the accuracy is better, but have not pulled the trigger on any paid tools yet.

for those who do cold emails outreach successfully what actually works? Should I focus more on the email copy or on finding the right contacts first? and how many follow ups is too many? and cold email tips that actually get responses would be huge.

prospeo vs snov io for email finding? can't find a good comparison

I have been testing both for the past week and truly cannot decide. My agency sends about 50k emails per month for saas clients.

snov seems to have been around longer but their data feels stale sometimes? Like I'll find emails that bounce even though they say verified. prospeo's emails seem fresher but I'm wondering if that's just my small sample size.

What I really need to know:

  • Which one has better mobile number data? We're doing more multi channel outreach now.
  • How's the API speed if I'm enriching 10k contacts at once?
  • Anyone used both for EU contacts specifically?
  • Real accuracy rates? Both claim 95%+ but that seems optimistic.

Price wise Prospeo looks cheaper but snov has that email warmup feature built in which could save me on a separate tool. Though I already use Instantly for that so maybe doesn't matter.

I also briefly looked at Apollo but their credit system confused me and I didn't want to deal with another learning curve. Just want a solid email finder that actually delivers clean data.

Would love to hear from people who've used both extensively not just tried free trials.
