Hi. 23F here. My father was recently shot by police on the 19th. I would like to get connected with him, and in general get some clarity on what he would like us to do. I’m grieving and my Dad was always the person I’d go to for help.

Hi 23F here. My dad was shot and killed by a police officer this past Friday. I’m the oldest of his six children he’s left behind, the youngest only being 2. He was “missing” for about four days before we had to call different coroner’s office to identify/find him. It took them a while to deliver the news of course. Whether or not there was any foul play or not isn’t the point of this post - nothing will bring him back to us.
My dad passed at only 42 years old. He was a mentally ill man but very loving, creative, loyal, and hilarious. He’s had many run ins with the police. He passed on the weekend of Father’s Day, right before we had planned to see him that following Monday.
I especially have had a very close bond to my dad as he raised me since I was a baby, mostly on his own. He was my best friend, and the only person who truly understood the way my brain ticked. Never judged me, no matter how bad it was.
None of us got to say goodbye. I miss him every moment. I’m sleeping in his clothes, staring at his photo - just hoping this is all an awful nightmare. My daddy was never afraid of death and often tried to prepare us for the day he was gone. He was really spiritual too so he always said he would try to come through to me (we shared in interest in the supernatural / spiritual side of things) if anything ever happened. I have his altar up.
I miss him so much. Since his death, I have started to fear the idea of my own passing less and less. I can’t wait for the day I get to see my Papa again.
Any advice? I’m so angry, sad, and lonely. I’m trying to be strong for my siblings. Please help, I’m scared for what’s ahead.
How am I supposed to work? School? How?
