Conure at local petsmart been there since the store opened (at least a year) has not been discounted or rotated?

My local petsmart has had a sad conure in a glass case alone for a long time. I feel sad for the bird and could give it a home but I dont want to encourage this species getting restocked by actually buying from them. What are the chances they’d adopt the bird to me?

Suggestions for wide toe box, minimal big toe taper leather boots

I’m a farm manager and I’m walking for 6+ hours a day over variable terrain. Desperate for a good second pair of boots to switch off from my Ariat composite toe boots every other day. I could probably suffice with the wide Cresta 2’s but they’re pretty expensive and my last pair didn’t last long enough for me to be happy with spending $300. I also don’t love that they eliminated the gore Tex breathable gullets on top—with how hot I get, I need a delicate balance of breathable yet externally waterproof boots. What brands are 1) not weirdly sporty looking 2) have a wide toe box with minimal big toe taper (the widest part of my feet is the tips of my toes, I need the roundest/widest toe imaginable). I found some possibilities bit hoping your suggestions help me narrow down my options.

correct farrier care plan for club footed horse?

Hi looking for sensible guidance and a sanity check from the farriery community. I lease a 10 year old dutch harness mare with a clubbed front right foot. it does give her mechanical asymmetry. she’s high low by probably a centimeter right now at probably 8 weeks.

The owner the other day told me her farrier’s hoof care plan is to lift the normal foot with a wedge to balance her stride. This seems suspicious to me, why are we altering the angles on the normal hoof to match the deformed hoof? isn’t that bad for the normal hoof?
I did ask her if the mare can be switched to 4 week cycles as i’ve heard it’s beneficial for club feet and she agreed. I am just concerned with using band aid measures that could be harmful in the long run. I am a “fix the root issue” kind of person when it can be done.

Please pros: what’s your take on this plan?

What’s like the bare minimum respectful quality of breeches for respectively, schooling and USDF rated low level shows?

I am not into the fashion of it and I don’t want to spend much. Can I show in like, Willit silicone full seat riding tights that are white?
Is a zipper on the breeches unseemly? What can I get away with?

All-day Barn peeps, what do you use to soothe and treat your face skin?

Dirty dust, sweat, wind, sun (even though i religiously wear sunscreen) has got my sensitive rosacea skin flaring and pimpling. Usually I only oil cleanse with jojoba esther because it’s one of the only things my skin doesn’t react to, but I need some more TLC since becoming a full time barn manager.

What are your favorite soothing healing facial skincare products?

what’s a fair deal/price for buying a sport broodmare who rides well too and promising another breeding to her in the future?

First of all, I’m a professional, I teach riding lessons and I’m a barn manager. I finally landed in a good place where I’m treated well and I get to treat the horses well. The farm owner and I get along well. I’m currently leasing a horse from her that I plan to show and she’s floated the idea of selling the mare to me. I did agree to let her get bred this year so she’s carrying a Friesian cross right now. (any side advice on how to best support a pregnant mare in work is greatly appreciated. i’m new to the world of breeding). The price of this horse for me would be $5000. I do think it’s a fair price, generous, even, but the farm owner has also talked about wanting to read her one more time to this gorgeous young stud that she has isn’t ready to be bred until next season (or maybe later). I’m honestly curious too. What she would throw from this stud. So another idea, I had was trying to work out a deal where I buy the horse for less money and and then I’d feel better about buying a pregnant mare whose baby I don’t get to own, and I could offer to let her do a broodmare lease for one more year.
What are the pros and cons of this idea? What would be a fair price given the whole she’s currently pregnant thing and what’s a broodmare lease worth these days?

Hi im an enthusiastic amateur who is ready to buy my first personal tools to maintain between pro trims. I am a woman and have medium (for women) sized hands.

Are there individual hand size/shape considerations when buying such tools?

Without investing like a professional, are there different levels of quality or ease of use? What might be better rasps to consider over others?
