Telling the quality of the instrument by the vibration of the metal
Hi all.
I have two trumpets in front of me, one 1970 Bach TR-200 and one new stencil student horn. While playing, I feel the metal of the Bach resonating more in my hand. Inversely, when I tap the instruments with my finger, the Bach doesn't vibrate almost at all, while the stencil vibrates an insane amount wherever I tap it, from mouthpiece receiver to bell.
Generally, is there something to be surmised from how a brass instrument vibrates when you tap it in different places?
