Former Tesla Data Eng. Intern: What to expect in a 2+ YOE Data Engineer panel interview?

Hey everyone,

I previously interred as a Data Engineer at Tesla, and I just found out I am moving to the panel round for a Data Engineer Full time position on a different team requiring 2+ years of experience.

This will actually be my very first panel interview. I am a bit confused about what to expect and want to make sure I prepare correctly.

For those who have gone through this or interview candidates at this level:

  • What is the typical format and breakdown of a DE panel interview for someone with 2+ YOE?
  • What is the standard total time commitment for the panel day?
  • Are there specific areas (SQL, system design, coding, behavioral) that usually get the most weight at this experience level?
  • Any tips on how I can best prepare over the next week?

I would greatly appreciate any feedback, insights, or advice you can share. Thank you.
