"could of"

Fucking enrages me so much. It's more than a simple mistake. People have to actually utilize their feeble minds to write "could of". The lack of brain activity to replace "have" with a word that isn't even a verb is staggering. Any native English speaker who is half alert should have their brain trigger numerous alarms during the process of typing that out and yet I see it several times a month. I try to remain optimistic but it just beats me down when I see this. It becomes clear that this world is filled with illiterate dullards unable to differentiate language from some meaningless blob of noise.

So thankful that my parents forced me to take a service job in high school

I genuinely believe it cured the outward facing aspects of my asperger's. I'm still weird at heart but since I can tone it down and have the confidence to put myself out there and make people laugh I'm seen as more eccentric than off putting. Lot of problems could be solved today with simple social skills training like this. I was really annoyed with them taking away my time over the summer but in retrospect that job was a god send

Genuinely, how did Pynchon get like that? Any deeper insight on his intellectual background or research/reading habits?

I'm sorry if this question gets asked a lot but I'm not usually the type of guy who wants to know more about the artist when I like the work so I don't really know much about him (and with him there obviously isn't much out there to go on). But Pynchon (the man) just fascinates on a level only a few have.

I started re-reading his works for the first time in a few years after the OBAA/Shadow Ticket combo last year sent me down the rabbithole and it has reaffirmed my opinion that he is the greatest living American writer.

How he gets his incredibly deep historical knowledge is one thing, but it just seems like it should be impossible to have enough time to spend so much time reading/researching and also be able to develop that incredible prose and humor while keeping it thought provoking, as well as philosophically and emotionally moving.

I know the basics (he went to Cornell, studied under Nabokov, etc) and assume some of this can just be attributed to "reading a lot" but I'm just wondering if anyone has any deeper insights into his research or how he incorporates it all into his writing. I'm just in awe.

Does anyone have any insights into Bowie's non-music intellectual or personal pursuits in his early years?

I've read a bit about how he started yoga very young, and heard a bit about what he was reading back then, but would love to know more! Any sources are appreciated!

Part of it is probably attractiveness halo but it's definitely not all of it. Many attractive people still look stiff and awkward

It's clear they saw the negative reaction to all the wokescolding and accurately judged that they needed to chill out a little more but damn this is terrible. They just overcorrected and went hard in the other direction, and they can't even choose their shots wisely. Half the time when they want to insult someone they invariably go after something to do with appearance which riles entire demographics up over them going back on their body positivity values (see AOC-Stephen Miller situation). And it's just lame at the end of the day, they suffer from the same 'only doing this for affirmation from my group' syndrome that people like Fallon and John Oliver have which makes it seem forced and unfunny. They seem genuinely perplexed about how to talk to people in a pleasant way while still having substance and appearing authentic, and that's how we get Trump prancing around the oval office for eight years

I know some people will rag on me for using someone as hot as Kate Beckinsale as the example but Emilia Clarke is beautiful as well and is sitting right next to her, and the guys don't look too shabby either. Kate washes them all out! People who don't slouch are 100x as sexy as they would be with bad posture.

It's just amazing! I'm not even envious, just amazed (though I'd of course like to know how it feels).

I had this coworker who was in her mid 50s. She was attractive but that wasn't the root of her charm, I mean I see attractive women everyday. IDK how to describe it but when she talked to you you felt like you would do anything for her. Made you feel like you had her full attention, but it can't just be that, right? She had a magnetic quality and had both the men and the women flocking to her in the office. People say similar things about Bill Clinton, like he creates some sort of glitch in the system whenever he speaks to you

These people even stand out in jobs where it's their job to be charismatic. I've gone to many concerts over the years but the two who absolutely captured the crowd were David Bowie (I was a kid so unfortunately don't remember all the details) and Nick Cave (Saw him last year, he's an absolute rock GOD up on stage). It's just fascinating! How do they do it?
