Help with broken aperture level canon a1

I bought a cheap Canon A1, and everything seems to work except the aperture lever in A mode. So, when I set the lens to A, the camera gives me an error and the shutter won't fire.

I noticed that when I reload the camera, the lever goes up but then immediately goes back down a little, unlike my AE1, where the lever stays up and seems to work without any problems. I also noticed that when I push the lever up slightly after reloading the camera, it goes up and stays in the correct position, allowing me to shoot.

What could be causing this problem? And how can I fix it?

Thanks in advance to anyone who answers my questions
