Yesterday i was driving to work around 6am on the i95 express lane in Miami. it was pouring rain, and if you know the area there’s a lot of overpass “hills.” i was doing about 60 and didn’t see the standing water that had pooled up in my lane.

i hit the water and my car turns to the left, and i’m looking at the concrete median wall right in front of me. i instinctively correct my turn and accelerate to pull out of it, i’m going forward again but the back of the car smacks the median wall. i pull over thinking my wheel is going to be bent out of place and my bumper is going to be knocked off, but there’s no body damage, the wheel is barely scraped (2nd pic), and it doesn’t look misaligned (3rd pic).

i get back in the car and continue my drive (much slower) and don’t feel any vibrations or hear anything grinding. steering wheel is a bit left of center now and the wheel is scraped, but other than that it drives fine and the wheel isn’t tracking or dragging as far as i can tell.

i genuinely think this car saved my life. an SUV would have rolled and/or spun across multiple lanes, and if the steering and suspension weren’t so good i doubt i would’ve been able to keep control of it. i’m taking it in for an alignment later this week and going to church on sunday, but thank God this car is so good.
