Join to the family

This is my 2018 Si, very mint condition and low milles, have Type R to, but I wanted a coupe so badly, I can see that it’s getting complicated to find body kits (like wing extension from Caruse and the wing stabilizers), intakes too. Need to mention I’m from Mexico.

Should I buy ?

Uncle in law is finally looking to sell his 89 civic si that’s I’ve asked about for years and curious on peoples opinions. It’s his son’s car but he’s in the military and no longer wants the car. It sat for years and was put on a non op because he knew he’d be gone for 4-10 years.

Pros - civic si , lots of extra parts , new tires on stock rims, drives well, shifts good and engine sounds healthy

Cons - body needs some work , 320k on the dash but I’m not sure if it’s original motor , check engine light (pre obd2 so unable to scan)

I know a bit about cars but not these. He’s looking for 2,000$ can I get some opinions please and thank you.

Genesis Coupe Brembos Retrofit

Hi everyone! I’ve recently come across a fair price on a pair of supposedly good condition Genesis Coupe brembos for $700CAD on marketplace and was wondering what everyone’s experience was with them and installing them?

I’ve done a bit of research and am aware it bolts right to the knuckle and fits the oem honda brake line and banjo bolt. I know you need Nissan Rogue 3rd Row Front Rotors and should ideally use a hub centric ring to center the rotors on the hub. I know you need to o trim the dust guard a little bit as well to allow it to fit.

I also know wheel clearance is the main issue and I’m already running 20mm spacers on my oem wheels. I plan on hanging onto them for a while and cleaning them up, then installing them once I get new wheels.

Just wanted some feedback from the community whether this is a good bbk and if the swap or longevity is an issue. Thank you all!

FA5 and brake light

Just picked up this 08 FA5. It runs great, strong and I’m super happy with my purchase. Only downside is there’s 360k/220k miles on it. No engine lights, car drives and steers perfectly straight with not a singular vibration.

Only issue is the ebrake light and ABS light is on. i was told it needs a front passenger wheel bearing and the front brakes are absolutely toast, next to nothing left of a pad and the rotors are ugly. Rear brakes were just done aka pads and rotors, and the ebrake does hold. It doesn’t stink when I get done driving. Obvi i’m getting those fixed but could those be why my abs and ebrake light is on? (obviously the ebrake isn’t pulled in this photo)

Waterproofing engine bay for vented hood?

Hey i was wondering if anyone has had a vented hood and took precautionary measures to waterproof the engine bay without rain louvers. I can't install the rain louvres so I wanted some peace of mind when rain and snow might be getting into the engine.

My 1 1/2 year update

Haven’t posted in a while due to waiting till all was done, but here’s some pics from when I got it to now with the main things I’ve done.

April 2025: bought the car a little rough cosmetic condition, but clean car overall with minor issues. 97k miles and I’m the second owner

Did my first oil change and realized the drain plug was stripped and they just jammed a bigger bolt in there. So first repair was an oil pan and afterwards was all other fluids and plugs to freshen everything up.

September 2025: Got an Invidia N1 3 inch cat-back to wake it up and it sounds amazing. I hated the burnt exhaust tip so I was able to polish it off and I’m way happier with it.

December 2025: had to address the one rust spot it has on the trunk lid. Weird spot for it but was able to repair that and get rid of the ugly chrome protruding strip and replace it with an 08 sedan flat strip and it color matched. Looks way way better.

January 2026: decided to add an oil temp and pressure gauge just to be safe and able to monitor it easily. Looks great and nice to have a nice visible gauge to make sure all is good

March 2026: first major cosmetic mod was some EVO 8 einkeis. They came with some old 235/45 tires so I ended up swapping the 215s off my stock rims since they were in great shape still with plenty tread left.

April 2026: Genesis coupe brembos to add some more braking power (honestly for the looks more lol) and to look more OEM+. The einkeis looked nice and clear the brakes so that’s my main reason for getting them.

Really was rocking the monster truck fitment for a while definitely looked terrible lmao

June 2026: paint was super scratched and was due for a paint correction. So a full 2 step correction with a ceramic coat and mad it made a difference. Looks wayy better and water beads like nothing. Should’ve done this way sooner.
Also replaced my old headlights with some fresh “crystal clear” ones with an amber turn signal housing and that made the car look 10x better as well.

August 2026: last thing on my bucket list was for the biggest change, coilovers. Went for fortune auto 500 and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. Went with 8k front and 10k rear spring rate. Rides super good, and handles way better. It’s a little rough but very manageable and I have it on 10/24 clicks for stiffness. Might end up lowering it a bit more in the future though.

I couldn’t be more happier with how it is and how far it’s come. I know it’s not anything crazy but it definitely is that OEM+ “build” I’m going for. Sorry for the long post but just want to share my progress and what I’ve all done.

Popping/creaking noise on my fg4 clutch pedal

Hello, I am new to platform and this group so bare with me. I love the car but I’m starting to see some things that the car kinda lacks in quality. Yesterday, I sprayed silicone pb blaster all over the spring and rod assembly for the clutch pedal but immediately heard a popping noise after. If someone can help me figure this out it would be greatly appreciated.

1000 Mile review of my '26 Si

Straight to the meat and potatoes:

Ride quality: Drove it off the lot with 20 miles on the odometer. Took some of my usual commute roads home, and I ended up kinda shocked and confused on that first drive. When I had test drove a '22, the ride felt very similar in comfort to my old insight, apart from being significantly less floaty. Driving my new 26 on less than stellar roads was shocking at first. Insanely bouncy and crashy and didn't feel like any honda I'd driven in the past, including Type R's. I questioned my memory pretty hard. However, somewhere between 300-400 miles, I noticed the suspension really start to calm down. The excessive bounce is now completely gone. The ride is still a tad firm, don't get me wrong, but it's much more tolerable now. Guess the break in period also goes for the shocks? Idunno, but I'm glad it's better now.

Power: It's fine. I've had faster cars, but power isn't why I bought this thing, though it does have at least 50HP more than the insight I traded it in for. Big power gets old on the street unless you're just insanely reckless, and I almost never go to the track. I don't think anyone would disagree that an extra 50hp would have been nice, but for my use case, I'll tolerate 200hp and keep it stock. I love the MPG I'm pulling in this thing and don't want to compromise reliability.

Handling: Great! I've never had a car with such good dynamics, and I've had a couple of actual sports cars in the past. Pushing this thing to its limits is not scary to do at all! You're never worried about the car suddenly snapping and losing grip since the all season tires start complaining well before anything like that can happen. What's even better is that the car is still fun when you're not pushing it. Just casual day to day driving is a ton of fun with this thing.

Fuel Economy: This thing is nuts. If i'm just cruising on my commute, I can easily punch above 40MPG. I can't believe a traditional ICE car with 200HP is this efficient! It's like they actually implemented a small displacement turbo engine properly! Not like an Accord or CR-V where it has to dip into boost for any type of acceleration. This thing can be driven practically without having to rely on the turbo to keep up with the pace of traffic, and you're not punishing your wallet at the pump for wringing it out either.

Interior: Everyone loves to glaze the 11th gen interior, and I get why. It's the ideal modern car interior. Has decent infotainment without giving up every single function to a touch screen. I will say that I have had a couple of rattles come and go and I couldn't track any of them down, which is frustrating. The seats, while the most comfortable in the class for me, aren't incredibly relaxing, but that's to be expected.

All this said, I'm starting to realize that this car isn't for me.

Now you might be thinking "WTF is he saying?! he just spent paragraphs drooling over his car and he says it's not for him?!"

I hate to say it, but I think my interest in performance cars is waning. I'm not sure why, but my best guess is that I'm just getting older. I'm 32, so I'm not quite antique status to most people yet, but I don't find myself incredibly excited to get behind the wheel of cars and go carve up corners. I really loved my insight because of how practical the car was and how relaxing it was to drive. Power delivery was so smooth, and the ride was so soft that it felt like I was floating. 50mpg was a huge plus as well. Yet, I somehow managed to convince myself that I was missing something and should trade it in. Overall, I do regret that decision.

On the flip side, this is probably the best car to own and have buyers remorse! I obviously don't hate the car, and the Si holds its value insanely well! I'll likely hold onto it for a year at most, and then get something a bit more appliance like. It feels depressing to write that, but hobbies and interest do change over time for some folks. Maybe I'll fall back into it when I hit my mid-life crisis? Who knows!

TL;DR, car is fantastic, but it isn't for me and I didn't realize it 'til now

Anyways, thanks for coming to my TED talk!

What to do next?

Recently bought a 8th gen Civic SI (2006) and am looking for what to do to get this thing looking better, sounding better and making it a little faster, currently it has a aftermarket exhaust (with a leak), it’s lowered on springs and has an after market MUGEN bumper, other than that it’s bone stock (fog light delete from the last guy as well and hosing for what I can assume is where a cold air intake was) any ideas for body kits or catbacks? Or just things to make the driving experience more fun. Thanks in advance!

Known rust proofing

Just wondering if it’s really worth it. I’m in Canada deal with a lot of salt and snow. I’ve seen that they have to drill holes all around the car and that in can eat away and the rubber door seals.
