Who is excited to announce that I am currently writing my book: Somalian and the Promise Land 🇺🇸.✍️

I’m incredibly excited to announce that I am currently writing my book:
Somalian and the Promise Land 🇺🇸.

This project is a deeply personal exploration of resilience, the immigrant journey, and the pursuit of the American Dream. Putting these experiences into words has been a powerful process, and I cannot wait to share this story with all of you.
I’m writing this book because narratives about us—like the concerns raised by
@realDonaldTrump
about our community here in Minnesota—only tell a tiny fraction of a much larger story.
Mr. President, I want to show you, and everyone else, the true heart of the Somali-American experience. We are a community built on faith, tireless hard work, entrepreneurship, and a deep, genuine love for the American promise. We aren’t here to destroy; we came here fleeing chaos to help build, protect, and cherish this great nation as our own 'Promise Land.'
I hope this story can serve as a bridge—proving that the American Dream is still very much alive, and that we are proud to be a part of it.
Stay tuned for more updates as this vision comes to life! 📖✍️

The contrast between the Estadio Azteca party and the streets outside was crazy today

Did anyone else catch the opening ceremony in Mexico City today? The stadium looked amazing with Shakira and Burna Boy, but the actual reality on the ground feels so tense.
There were massive teacher protests right outside the fan zones demanding pension reforms, neighborhoods in Nuevo León literally being covered up with billboards to hide poverty, and local fans furious that tickets were priced at over $3,000—completely pricing out regular Mexicans from their own home tournament.
It feels like FIFA completely lost the plot on this one. It's day one and the commercialism/politics are already overshadowing the actual football. What’s the vibe in your host city right now

Economy

The World Cup has kicked off, but for the average fan, the biggest match might be against their own bank account. 💸⚽
While the world tunes in, the economic backdrop of 2026 is hitting hard. Global inflation is sticky, energy prices are up, and the World Bank is warning of a broader economic slowdown.
This environment turns a massive tournament like this into a luxury experience more than ever before:
✈️** Hotel and flight prices in host cities are seeing "mega-event inflation," pricing out standard travelers.
🎟️
Ticket Scarcity: With 48 teams and a new Round of 32, demand is unprecedented, driving secondary markets to eye-watering le**vels.
🍔 Small businesses in host cities are bracing for a massive surge in traffic, but rising input costs mean consumers will bear the brunt of higher prices.
Are mega-sporting events becoming too expensive for the everyday fan? Let me know if you’re traveling for a match or safely watching from your couch to save cash! 👇
