Are there PMs who regularly read research papers?

I’m thinking of starting a habit of reading 1 research paper a week on Product Management.

In engineering, there seems to be a very established culture around reading papers, following research, discussing findings, etc. But in Product Management, I rarely come across PMs talking about research papers as part of their regular learning.

I’m not looking for the usual PM books, LinkedIn posts, frameworks, or case studies.

I’m interested in research that helps us step away from the day-to-day execution and think more deeply about things like:

Product strategy & decision-making

Customer behaviour

Product discovery

Innovation & new product development

Prioritisation

Product-market fit

Team/product organisation

Product experimentation

AI & product management

I recently discovered that there is actually a large body of research under New Product Development, Product Innovation, and Innovation Management. For example, there are decades of academic research on product development and innovation.

So I’m curious:

  1. Do you already follow/read research papers as a PM?

  2. Where do you find good papers?

  3. Are there specific journals, researchers, newsletters, communities, or websites you recommend?

  4. Would anyone be interested in doing something like “1 paper/week” and discussing the practical implications for PMs?

I’m particularly interested in research that can make us better product thinkers, not just better at executing the PM process.

AI PRODUCT MANAGEMENT: Has anyone actually built an AI/LLM harness for an existing product? Looking for hands-on experience

Hey everyone,

I’m looking to connect with people who have hands-on experience building an AI/LLM harness around an existing product.

I’ve been reading about AI harnesses, evaluation frameworks, testing, observability, guardrails, agents, etc., but most of what I’m finding online is fairly theoretical. I’m more interested in understanding what teams actually did when they built one and took it through the different stages of the product lifecycle.

I’d particularly love to learn from a product/engineering perspective:

- How did you identify the need for a harness in the first place?

- How did you define its scope and capabilities?

- What did you consider part of the harness vs. part of the actual AI product?

- What did the initial architecture look like?

- How did you approach evaluation and testing?

- How did you handle things like prompts, models, datasets, experiments, evaluation criteria, regression, observability, guardrails, etc.?

- How did the harness evolve as the AI product moved from experimentation toward production?

- What did you initially think you needed but later realized wasn't necessary?

- What were the biggest challenges or lessons learned?

- If you were starting again, what would you do differently?

I’m not looking for a theoretical definition of an AI harness. I’m specifically interested in real-world experience — how people approached the problem, what they built, how the responsibilities were divided between product and engineering, and how the overall solution evolved over time.

If you've built something like this, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience. Even a high-level overview, architecture, or lessons learned would be extremely useful.

Happy to connect over DM as well if that's easier.

Thanks!

PM-AI Learning club

I'm looking for 3-4 curious people who are genuinely trying to learn AI Product Management. No gurus, no LinkedIn influencers—just people who enjoy asking questions, experimenting, and sharing what they discover.

The idea is simple: meet once a week (online for now), discuss one topic, exchange ideas, and hopefully become a little less confused together.

If this sounds like your kind of Friday, drop a comment or DM me!

Date : 17 July

Time : 8pm IST

Mandatory form to submit: https://forms.gle/8PvY8siurE9ruzmp8

Looking for a small AI Product Management learning circle (Hyderabad)

Looking for a small AI Product Management learning circle (Bengaluru)

I've been thinking about this for a while and finally decided to post.

AI Product Management is evolving so quickly that it feels like everyone is trying to figure it out in their own way. Some of us are fortunate enough to work on AI products at our companies, while many are learning through YouTube, blogs, Reddit, X, newsletters, prompting AI tools, and experimenting on their own.

The challenge is that there isn't really a structured path yet—and that's completely understandable given how fast this space is moving.

So instead of learning in isolation, I'm looking to build a small group of 4–5 like-minded Product Managers who genuinely want to learn together.

The idea is simple:

Meet virtually every week or two.

Pick a topic, article, paper, product, or case study.

Share what we've learned and discuss real-world applications.

Teach each other, challenge assumptions, and grow together.

I've found that the best way to truly understand something is to explain it to someone else.

A little about me: I've been in Product Management for around 12 years and currently work as a Staff Product Manager at a well-known organization. I'm also actively learning AI PM and don't claim to have all the answers. That's exactly why I want to find people who are curious, open-minded, and willing to learn together.

If you're based in Hyderabad, it'd be great to occasionally meet in person as well—I'm thinking somewhere around Nexus Mall since it's convenient for me. Virtual discussions would still be the primary way we connect, so don't worry if you can't meet every time.

This isn't a networking group or a course. It's simply a small, committed learning circle where everyone contributes.

If this sounds interesting, drop a comment or send me a DM. Tell me a little about your background and why you'd like to join.

Looking forward to learning together!

Note- First meet will be in person meeting only to get selected in this group.
