Retired/Inactive Starborn

I'm 100% convinced that Zawadi Wade is Starborn! She's the nice old lady who you meet near the playground in New Atlantis that asks you to deliver a letter to her pen pal in Cydonia. I'm wondering what other NPCs might be Starborn who are just living out a trip through the Unity.

Thoughts on 'The Eye'.... sort of a "what if" post!

I hope I'm not the only one, but I feel Constellation's space station The Eye is kinda under-utilized in-game. It would make an excellent orbital support hub for Constellation and the main character! I think it would be cool to have the option to assign companions and/or hires as staff for The Eye and to be able to add decorations. Additionally I would have liked to see a couple of your owned ships docked there . I know Vlad likes it empty cause he prefers to be alone, but the place looks like it could easily be staffed by about six to eight people comfortably. I'm sure in Constellation's past it was likely so. I figure it would be nice to have an option to bring it back to glory by hiring vetted scientists and engineers and using resource to upgrade the place. Of course I'm sure there are mods out there for this, but from a "vanilla level" standpoint , it would have been cool! I guess we can just add this to the 100+ page list of "what would you add to the game?"

"McClarence outfitters: Legendary Customization"....? What's your take/experience?

I'm considering downloading it, but I want to know if its excessively buggy or creates regular save/load issues. I have other mods installed, so if you know of any that conflict please let me know.

Ok game....you convinced me!!

So there's a glitch where Milli (the milliwhale pet) will spawn next to you at the end of certain missions and artifact/power locations. And at first it was weird, then annoying.... I'm not a fan of the wet squelching noises she makes. I tried to get her to stay at the outpost I built, but she just kept popping up! I just finished the mission when you go to what we'll call the "final location" to avoid spoilers...and she was there! After every move to a different section of the level she was right there beside me! And you know what......it wasn't so bad after all. She was faithfully backing me up on the final push to the Unity! No fear, no hesitation in the face of all the nonsense and violence!! Milli is a real one and I'll gladly take her through the Unity!

A glitch with tactical twist!

So I finished a quest for one of the artifacts and figured I'd do some exploring maybe some asteroid mining before the next mission. I see this "sensor contact" on the starmap and grav jump to it...only to be instantly killed by a dense minefield which got me stuck in a death loop and cost me 5hrs of progress. I was annoyed at first then I thought......what if this was semi-intentional on the part of the devs? Not the death loop part, but jumping into a minefield and taking heavy damage. I imagine that (if intentional) it could be a legit in-game thing, like the Terran Armada placed them and rigged a fake contact to lure ships, or maybe something left over from the Colony War, Narion War or even Serpent's Crusade! Anyone else run into this or something similar?

Not the smoke you want!

Am I the only one who gets a good laugh when some of the low level NPCs threaten you during dialogue, especially after you've gone through the Unity a few times and have a triple digit character level.....

Level 3 NPC: "If you mess with me, I'll kill you!!"

Level 127 Starborn (who can slow time, manipulate gravity, turn to stone, freeze objects, become invisible, regenerate health, summon duplicates of themself and others to fight, revive dead wildlife, create a localized supernova and carrying enough fire power to level Neon): "Nice ripshank.....!"

Docking Port Orientation......?

I've spent waaay to much time thinking about this!! So most (not all) ships have dockers placed on the topside or bottom of a ship.....but when you dock with ,then enter a station or another ship that is on an opposing plane.....vertical vs horizontal....you are properly oriented standing upright. So to reconcile this I can think of two sci-fi examples.

  1. In Star Trek: Enterprise they showed that ships have a "sweet spot" where gravity operates omni-directional and you can push off a floor to sit on a ceiling or wall. Seems cool, but hazardous since landing is more akin to falling. However this method seems unlikely in Starfield as the "sweet spot" on Trek ships is stated in a very specific location and dockers can be placed anywhere on a ship.

  2. In Stargate we see in one episode where Jack O'Neil is held captive in a standard cell with no door, but the gravity can be shifted 90 degrees to make the back wall into the floor, essentially turning a 20ft long cell into a 20ft deep pit. I can see this as being safer, but with similar hazards as the first if the shift is done too fast. Also that would mean the station/ship being boarded would have to mimic or mirror this orientation to work properly, which wouldn't be a thing during hostile boarding actions.

I know the grav drive manipulates gravity(duh), but I'm wondering which of the two examples fellow fans think are more likely to be used or if I've missed a more obvious semi-real world explanation.

So I managed to acquire a Terran Boudica ship from its previous, now un-alive owners on a certain mission in a scrap yard. After walking around inside the ship for a bit, it gave me some heavy Rocinante vibes from the first season when "Holden & Co." first got the ship, especially with the forward antennae, internal bridge layout and railgun weapons. Is it just me or anyone else get that feeling?
