Will The Defenders/Street Level Heroes Be in Secret Wars? (And Beyond?)
I’m actually curious, what are all of your thoughts on if you think the Defenders would be in Secret Wars and the future, as well as what role they would play? I think it would be fun to map out each character and their likelihood to determine who will appear and to what capacity. This’ll most likely be a lengthy text since I’m bored and got nothing to do so feel free to skip this, but if you’re interested go ahead and read it.
Punisher: I probably have the most to say about Punisher. I think he is one of the most likely heroes of the TV street level characters to appear in Secret Wars. Looks like the all the main cast members (who are heroes/super powered) will be returning in some capacity for Secret Wars. Obviously Peter Parker and Hulk are a given but surprisingly Sadie Sink was confirmed, another reason why her likelihood of being Jean Grey got bumped up big time. But what about Punisher? I did see someone talk about a report that Punisher would appear in Secret Wars but it was just a Reddit thread talking about the report. Although even though there’s nothing concrete he is the only missing member of the BND cast yet to be announced for SW and he’s the first TV street level heroes to hit the movies with what seems to be a significant role (excluding daredevil because he was a 1 minute cameo.) maybe he’d be teaming up with Jean Grey or Spidey on Battle World? That’d be cool to see him fight some monsters and aliens and the rating would mean he doesn’t have to hold back regarding blood and stuff. (Apparently it’s only rated R if it’s humans being taken out graphically but that’s just what I’ve heard online.) plus he’d be on Battle World so we don’t gotta commit to him being grounded for a first, which is neat.
Daredevil: I think Daredevil is the second likeliest hero. I think if he appears in BND, even as a cameo, he’d have a big enough boost that they’d include him in Secret Wars, same with the Punisher. Daredevil season 3 will very likely finish filming before Secret Wars starts filming and even if it doesn’t, SW will be shooting for quite a bit so they can add him in later in filming. He’d probably be in the more “outskirts” areas of Battle World, maybe teamed up with his fellow Defenders and some random heroes to overthrow Doom? I don’t recall him in the 2015 run so that’s just me guessing. Ooo what if he leads the hand and we get a small shadowland adaption. OR A DEFENDERS SHOW DURING BATTLE WORLD WHERE THEY FIGHT HAND DAREDEVIL. Yo lowkey that sounds awesome!!!
The Defenders (excluding DD): this is where it gets kinda tricky for me, on one hand I like Jessica, Luke, and Danny but I can totally see them being left out. Which is a shame because at the time, my only gripe with Endgame is that the Netflix shows weren’t included in the big marvel finale of the time, not even a cameo. They could definitely have minor roles or show up for some crazy final battle and that’d be enough for me. I think Secret Wars should bring in whoever they can so none of the great heroes get left out of the finale, even if it’s a cameo. If they can put Elektra in a Deadpool multiverse movie they can put Iron Fist in an Avengers movie, even for a few minutes.

Another thing I’m curious on is this. It seems clear Marvel is really starting to push for the Defenders with their return incoming, but are they gonna stay for the long run? Secret Wars seems to be the point of reset for the MCU (if I’m understanding that right). So will the Defenders make the exclusive cut post Secret Wars? We know characters like Spider-Man, the fantastic four, Deadpool and maybe even Thor are most likely to stay in the MCU with their current actors, so maybe the Defenders too? I hope marvel wouldn’t give us a singular Defenders return in season 3 then reset them a year later, this feels like a perfect return for them going into the third saga, although they’d be getting a lot older since most of them have been doing this since 2015-16. People like Charlie and Finn made it clear they want to stick around so maybe the Defenders history will stay the same with a few minor tweaks? Hard to say since I don’t fully grasp the concept of the reset. So some history stays like Peter Parker’s but someone like Morgan Stark could just never have existed in the new timeline?
Anyway, I just hope they keep the Defenders around after Secret Wars and they get a proper storyline that weaves them into the main conflict. I’ve heard people say born again season 3 is the last season and after that those characters could go to the big screen, which honestly if not right, sounds pretty cool I won’t lie. I’d definitely like them to have a bigger role in the next saga since they weren’t even acknowledged in the Infinity Saga films and they barely appear in the Multiverse Saga films (2-4 possible appearances, all of which could be cameos except for Punisher in BND). Maybe they can own the TV side of things and be the only shows needed to keep up with (not to understand the movies just the full stories leading to whatever the next big crossover thing is) because it seems the mutants and FF might be owning the big screen for the next decade. Although by the time they make any new shows there will be over 10 seasons of television new and old to catch up with so unless we want a third daredevil show, I’d like to see what they’d do for a movie. Also after One Last Kill, there’s been rumors marvel might make a new Punisher project, and for all we know, maybe instead of a show it’s a movie? I like the Defenders owning the TV side of things but I also want a Punisher film starring Jon, or a Daredevil film with a good budget with Charlie actually doing stunts without them getting cut out the final product, that’d be so sick. Even a Defenders movie would be hype for me.

Maybe some will come true maybe some won’t, non of us know, this is just for fun, and fully optional.
