Sourcing Carb Stones for large TC ports (3” and above)

Hey all,

I’m looking to buy an extra carbonation stone that would fit in my 3” tri clamp ports and I wondered if folks have recommendations on vendors.

Zahm and Nagel has what I need but it’s a bit pricey and I didn’t see a fully assembled, welded version on ABS commercial, glacier tanks, or GW Kent’s site as they are our normal vendors.

Just thought I’d check here for some advice.

Thanks again!

NSI brewhouse Lauter Tun false bottom

Anybody else running an old NSI brewhouse and have suggestions on removing the plates to the false bottom? It’s been a while since we’ve gotten under ours and regularly soak in caustic but it’s a real pain getting the plates up to clean properly under there.

I’m happy to provide more information if anyone has ideas.

GEA Westfalia questions

Hey all,

We were using our GEA Westfalia centrifuge yesterday and weren’t able to achieve some of our turbidity targets and we’re troubleshooting some solutions.

I am not a centrifuge operator, but I understand slowing the flow rate down and/or increasing the back pressure should decrease turbidity. Because of concerns about slowing down and temperature, we tried increasing the back pressure slowly. Our centrifuge operator mentioned that when the machine was commissioned, they needed to keep their inlet product gauge between 5-10 psi. When we increased back pressure, this began to climb above that spec.

My question is, what is the purpose of the 5-10 psi on the product supply line and why can’t the machine go above that. I’ve tried reaching out to GEA but only get replies from sales engineers.

The gauge in question is on the top and below is product discharge (we’re doing a CIP in the pic).

Thanks again!

CO2 Balance Line Savings

We have recently gotten out of an old CO2 contract and are re-examining our CO2 usage to find cost savings.

Has anyone calculated the amount of CO2 savings that can happen when using a balance line during tank to tank transfers vs venting at the brite and pushing with gas?

Thanks for any help you can give.
