Is YouTube 3D processing currently broken for new uploads?
Hi everyone,
I'm running a small VR/3D YouTube channel and all my regular videos are uploaded as stereoscopic Full-SBS (3840×1080).
Until a few days ago, YouTube detected these uploads correctly and enabled its 3D playback options.
Today I uploaded a new video using exactly the same workflow as always, but YouTube does NOT enable the 3D option anymore.
The file itself seems to be perfectly fine. ffprobe reports:
Video: h264, 3840x1080
SAR 1:2 DAR 16:9
stereo_mode : left_right
Side data:
stereo3d: side by side, view: packed
Here's the interesting part:
To rule out a problem with my encoding workflow, I took the exact MKV file of a video that I successfully uploaded about 3 days ago.
Original upload 3 days ago:
→ YouTube detected it as 3D correctly.
Exact same MKV file uploaded again today:
→ No 3D option.
So this is literally the same file — no re-encoding, no remuxing, no metadata changes.
Existing videos on my channel still have the normal YouTube 3D options, including 2D/3D and anaglyph playback. Only new uploads seem to be affected.
I also noticed another change in YouTube Studio today: I was able to configure cards and the end screen while the video was still uploading/processing. Previously I could only do this after processing had finished. So YouTube may have changed something in its upload/processing pipeline recently.
Has anyone uploaded a stereoscopic 3D video to YouTube within the last 1–2 days?
Could you check whether YouTube still detects new uploads correctly as 3D?
I'm trying to figure out whether this is a temporary processing issue or whether YouTube has changed something with 3D support for new uploads.
Thanks!
