I've heard that my shrimp with this similar sort of coloring have more of the 'wild' blood and i guess i was just wondering if they have genetics that makes them bigger, too. one of them has amassed about 1in in length.

and is there anything else that sets them apart from the rest? or just colors mostly.

i made a post a few days ago and have since done a few things to help find the cause.

my betta has been progressively getting more curled fins for the past 3-4 days.

his water parameters are spot on, his filter is low flow, he doesn't get too much light, and he doesn't overeat / undereat. he's in a five gallon tank, and his water temp is 76.

he doesn't seem otherwise stressed at all either. he continues to swim around, eat, be curious, etc.

my last thoughts are maybe he wants a slightly bigger tank or it's just his genetics, because I don't believe he has fin rot either.

I'm doing research into why his fins are suddenly curling and I don't *think* it's fin rot but, just to be safe.. what do you guys think? he's otherwise continuing to eat, swim, etc.

my best guess is water parameters but i checked a few days ago, everything was normal. i do need to buy more test stuff though to continue to monitor.

his diet is varied as well, and the flow on the filter is minimal. i got him a few months ago and he was already an adult but I don't think he's OLD old.

edit: i think i figured it out. his water doesn't feel the same temperature so i think his heater crapped out and I didn't notice. getting him a new one tonight :)
