Kanteena Free Charity All Day Event

I hope it's OK to remind everyone that this event is on in two weeks time at Kanteena.

We have a full day of music and entertainment free of charge from 2-10pm.

There are loads of established acts from the North West music scene coming and we have the usual bar and food available at Kanteena.

All money raised from tombola and raffle will go to our charity that runs clothes and food banks and provides practical support to rough sleepers.

We'd love to get the space full of people to get the party atmosphere going. Please share with anyone you know who might enjoy this and pop it in your diary.

Lancashire Festival Avenham & Miller Park #Lancsfest

It's 3 weeks until the Lancashire Festival is on. Grassroots music, stalls, food, bar and entertainment. Can bring your own chairs and enjoy the whole day. Only a fiver to get in if you book ahead.

Our community music group Sounds Out will be opening the show at 12:30 with some well know hits to hopefully get the crowd in the mood.

Sounds Out Community music group on tonight

Sounds Out May session on tonight at our usual hangout, St Bernard's on Elswick Road.

You can expect some new songs to be brought out for the beginners jam session from 5pm and then afterwards we will have a free jam. Feel free to bring along anything you are into that you want to share.

After the jam session we will hit the stage to rehearse on the PA system. Some of us are getting ready for gigs this summer, so you can have a sneak peak at what is being worked on. If you are not gigging you are more than welcome to get some stage practice in and have a turn yourself, or just have a drink, a chat and listen.

5-8pm. Drop in and out any time you are free. Hope we see you there! All abilities welcome!

Opening a show and arranging set

How to choose your opening and closing songs? I'm doing a set that's just an acoustic duo; singer and guitar. I guess something well known is good for start and end positions with less well known but more signature tracks in the middle. We just do covers at the moment. What are your go to openers? All advice appreciated, cheers.
